Kitz stands for
by globetrott
The german word "Kitz" stands for a baby-goat or baby-chamois and Kitz is also the abbreviation for the town of Kitzbühel. You will find the Kitz in the coat of arms of Kitzbühel and all over the village you will also find various sculptures of a Kitz, all of them individually decorated and painted, it is quite funny to see them at many places in Kitzbühel.

Stanglwirt is just 9 km from Kitzbühel !
Stanglwirt is one of the best-known hotel & restaurant of the area around Ellmau and Going and it is also a great halfday excursion from Kitzbühel. Stanglwirt is also a farm that you can visit, they have horses and a ridinghall and a lot more.
Stangwirt is no cheap restaurant, but a great place to stop and have a look for some great rural architecture.
It was for purpose that I listed Stanglwirt here as a sight, and not as a restaurant or hoteltip, because the main building is a lovely old farmhouse in the local style and I think it is really worth seeing, even when you dont go to eat there !
Kitzbuhel

Kitzbuhel is a small town sandwiched between the Kitzbulerhorn and the Hahnenkamm mountain ranges. A lot of people come here during the winter to ski but that is not my cup of tea so I occasionally come here during the summer. "Ocassionally" being the operative word as this is only the third time we have visited Austria in the last 22 years!
