getting to Kufstein
by forms
Maybe someone will help and advise how to get from vienna international airport to Kufstein? Or from Salzburg airport to Kufstein? By train or maybe there are any coaches between this cities? How much approximately it costs?
Thanks

The trains for Kufstein from Salzburg are traveling through a short German corridor - this is a very traditional thing. The best deal I know - if you are with a companion - is to buy a Bavaria ticket
"Bayern-Ticket" in Salzburg. It will cost the same (Eur 27 at the station, Eur 25 over the Internet) for a company of up to 5 people. A lone traveler pays Eur 18 over the Internet and Eur 20 over the counter.
Be warned:
- "Bayern-ticket" is valid for an entire day from 9:00 AM until 3:00 AM the next day
- "Bayern-ticket" allows you to travel in Bavaria as much as you want, it's a day-pass
- "Bayern-ticket" is valid for local, Regional and Inter-Regional trains only. For IC or ICE you will need a supplement which is not worth
- you can use Bayern-ticket to travel from Salzburg to Munich, Regensburg, Nuremberg - as long as you can reach Kuffstein the same day. I would probabl see Chimsee and maybe Munich. Why not if it is for free?
The distances aren't great, so using IR or R trains instead of IC or ICE or EC is not of a major penalty.
The "regular" O/W price from Salzburg to Kufstein is 18.70 Euro by local trains via Germany, 23 Euro by express trains - also via Germany. There is also a service (longer route, thus a bit more expensive) via Austrian territory only, the price is 27.50 Euro

I agree - but this detour is going THROUGH instead of past the mountains, and is (while sower and more expensive) also far more scenic.
I think the best deal would be flying to Munich (much more flights to there than Salzburg) and then by train to Kufstein. The same rules (Bayern-Ticket) apply, as the route is all the way through Germany. Kufstein is the border station.

Sorry, one correction - no supplement will make the BT valid on IC/ICE trains. You would have to buy the normal ticket.
On most shorter connections it is not worth the cost though.

1) Here is the side in English explaining these deals:
http://www.bahn.de/p/view/international/englisch/travelservice/laender_tickets.shtml
2) Please note: "In some Bundesländer you can buy a supplement of EUR 13 to be able to take IR- or D-trains". Sorry, I mixed it up - it is correct, you cannot use IC or ICE, but for EUR 13 extra you can use D-trains or IR in some Federal States. In Bavaria you can use IRE, RE, RB and S-Bahn. It is not a very big limitation.
3) Indeed, flights into München tend to be much less than into Salzburg or even Vienna. In most cases you can save a lot by flying into Munich, than visiting a few interesting places in Bavaria + Innsbruck + Salzburg and eventually going to Vienna or Budapest using the 29 Euro EC or EN on-line offer (Budapest or Vienna same price, 29 Euro o/w - but you have to reserve on-line)

Thanks for everyone
You helped me very much because I have been two times in Austria (but with travel agencies) and now when I am planing travel alone its quite different and not easy at all.
