Great Hotel perfectly situated

The Postwirt is an imposing figure in the Village, it looks grand from the exterior and is set slap bang in the middle. You have a friendly welcome and straight away when the staff recognise revious customers and remember their names, you know somehow its going to be ok.

We had booked last minute due to a cancelled trip to Fernie after the zoom collapse, so we had to have a room without a balcony, here lies the only real concern, Thomson rate this Hotel as 4+ in their brochure, well the small room we were given was not, two single beds pushed together and you couldnt both walk about at the same time, we went to reception and asked to be moved, due to it being full, there was only another room of the same type at the front, we moved anyway. The room was clean but again small, however as after the 2nd day a larger room became available due to illness, we paid the 50Euro upgrade charge and moved into 205, this was more like it, a large bay window, balcont with table and chairs, comfy beds, sofa and chair. This was what I expect from 4star plus, so unless you dont mind small or compact, book with a balcony.

Breakfast was from 7.30am til 10am, buffet style with lots to choose from, hot and cold meats, bread, cereals, juice, toast etc etc etc.

You got a ski snack if you were back early in the bar at 15.30pm, something which we didnt do even for a free meal.

Evening meal was from 18.30 until 20.30, 5 course including buffet salad, soup, main course, desert, cheese and biscuits, some of the dishes were not what we were used to, but tasty all the same, the staff, especially Peter and friendly and all speak very good English.

There is a drying room underneath the hotel with a coded lock, you access via some steep stone steps at the side, be very careful when they are wet.

There is a sauna and an outside heated pool, acces from floor -1, a lively bar which has live groups playing on certain nights and apart from their obvious liking for stuffed animals dotted around the hotel I couldnt really fault it.

We recommend this hotel and the fact that when we returned from Holiday, there was a letter from the family Bliem and the Postwirt thanking us and hoping we had a safe journey home made us feel a little more like we were not just any old guest.

We booked through Thomson Holidays, without any problems.
