Most of the hike is alongside the lake and is fairly level, the path was wet and the snow lay only on the grass.
I continued to circle the lake. Some of the other hikers had started to climb a pass to the south, I believe the Gaffaljoch.
The cable car is every hour and it left the group at the lower terminus. The bus service does not necessarily meet the cable car's arrival every hour, so you can explore the end of the valley as you wait for the connection.
For the record you can hike up or down or I suppose if you are fit, you can hike up and down. I appreciated the cable car.
The contrast to the white above just a few hundred metres above is a pleasant feeling, a return to a land of green.
