I made a reservation through Expedia for 6 nights in this hotel for my parents who were traveling in Europe. During the third night of their stay at 2:00 AM in the morning somebody broke into their locked room, when they were sleeping. My mother woke up from the characteristic noise of the door lock click when it is opened by an electronic card, and when somebody sneaked into the room she started screaming. The burglar(s) run out before my father woke up, and luckily without taking anything valuable. My parents immediately went downstairs to the reception and told what happened, asking for an explanation on how can someone open the door to their room with an electronic card from outside. The receptionist (Tanya) called somebody else (Benjamin), then they called a third person, then a fourth, then chatted about something among themselves and came up with a genius suggestion to reprogram the card! When my parents asked whether that will ensure that nobody can break into their room again, they basically shrugged their shoulders. Nobody from the hotel bothered to come up to the room, check the door, or the lock, or anything else.

It must be mentioned, that the rooms in this hotel have safety boxes, that are locked with ... yes, the same electronic cards that get you to the room. My parents have been keeping their passports, credit cards, and other valuables in this box when they were leaving the hotel, and although nothing has been physically missing, later they decided to change their credit cards just in case someone had access to their card information.

Half an hour after the incident we notified Expedia about it, and when their agent called to hotel, the receptionist said she was not aware of any such incident. I asked my father to go downstairs and be present during a second phone call conversation (that I requested) of the Expedia agent with the hotel representative, and sure enough, it turned out that the hotel representative had "misunderstood" the question of Expedia agent, and was well aware of everything. The next morning my parents checked out of the hotel several days earlier than planned. Needless to say that the hotel not only refused to reimburse the money for the miserable night spent there, but charged also for the remaining days of the reservation that my parents did not spend there. Expedia refused to reimburse us anything referring to the decision of the hotel.
