The hotel near The Schonbrunn Palace

This long-established hotel which rebuilt as a hotel ,the guesthouse built by the Franz Joseph emperor in 1907.
The interiors of The dining-room and rooms are gorgeous. The room is wide, although it is old. Equipments of amenity etc. is prepared.
This hotel is located in the city [ western ],
You can go in about 10 minutes to Stephansdom and Stastsoper using a subway.

Unique Quality: The breakfast time is from 6:00 a.m. for people who inspect a palace and a garden early in the morning, and is defined for a long time so that breakfast may also be eaten after the walk of a garden early in the morning.
Breakfast has many kinds in a buffet style.
when I mailed in advance, saying "I want you to pick me up from the airport", the taxi driver came out and greeted with the plate at the airport.
This hotel is very kind.

The optimum hotel can be told to people who want to inspect of a palace simultaneously opening,to enjoy the walk a garden early in the morning and to see the palace which is lighted up at night.

Very Good Location

I was there in August 2004.
When you first enter in the main lobby, you are impressed from the luxury of the hotel, but this is just a 4 star hotel.
In the room you have: telephone, TV, Radio (2 special channels in the TV), minibar, a lot of space in the wardrobes, desk, 3 sitting chairs and a small table (about 1 meter x 0.50 meter), a hot press for pants and a safe.
The WC was separate from the bathroom, in which was a bath tube and a bidet (useful to clean your tired feet after a day walking in Vienna! ;-) )
All the towels (2 big, 2 small and 1 carpet) was changed all the days if needed. There is also a laundry service, but I not used it.
Soap is available in two useful dispensers.
The minibar is locked by a key which is given to you in the same keyring with the main room key. Since the minibar is big enough and it is not automatic, you can use it to store your food. I bought tomatoes, ham and cheese and the minibar was VERY helpful.
There is no air conditioning system, but I can assure you don't need it.
My bed was a king size, and for king I means KING! It was hard and with four pillows; probably one of the most comfortable bed I ever used in my trips!
If you travel alone (not with an organized travel group), you have a separate breakfast room (which is better in my opinion).
Here you can found all you need: fruit juices (orange and others), tomato juices, hot-water and tea-filters, coffee and milk (just ask to the maid), tomatoes, vegetables, a good selection of hams and cheeses, sausages, scrambled eggs, fresh fruits, butter, margarine, bread (ABSOLUTELY TRY IT!!), cakes, 3 different yogurts, honey, 6 different jams, peaches in syrup and other...
The breakfast starts at 06:30 and end at 10:30

Unique Quality: In the hotel there is a free swimming pool (12 x 6 meters) which is almost free of people at noon. The opening time is 7:30-19:30 on the weekdays, and 9:00-19:30 during weekends.
There is also a sauna (probably free, but I'm not sure) and a massage service I not experimented, but it was 8 euro per 10 minutes or a lot cheaper for a 50 minutes service.
There is also a beautiful garden where you can stay.
The hotel is in a FANTASTIC location. You have one side entering to the Schonbrunn gardens. You have just to cross the street in front of the hotel and walk for less than 50 meters to the right, in direction of the church.
If you walk to the left side without crossing the street, you pass in front of a parking garage, a Sisley shop, a patisserie with ice-creams and a few shops.
The underground (U-Bahn) station U4-Hietzing is on the opposite of the street at about 200 meters from the hotel. Here you'll found buses and trams too.
Depending on you final destination, in a time from 10 to 20 minutes you may be in any point of the city.

Wonderful

The greatest hotel that I have ever stayed at. Period. We paid $60 a night for a room for three at this hotel last Christmas. It overlooks the Schonbrunn Palace and was even built as a guesthouse for it. Very, very old-world luxurious. We even had a balcony and a chandelier in our room. And a bidet. And a foyer. Great breakfast. Right across the street from a tram stop and only about fifteen minutes to the State Opera House.

The Parkhotel Schönbrunn

The Parkhotel Schönbrunn is Vienna´s largest hotel complex and right next to Schönbrunn Palace – I stayed there and it was a great location for wandering through the palace gardens (but it is located away from the city). One of the few hotels that can consider itself 'Emperor-approved'. Built in 1907 as a guesthouse for VIPs visiting Franz Josef at Schönbrunn.
.

Unique Quality: Restaurant, bar, cable, satellite, garden, indoor swimming poor, spa, solarium, fitness studio.

Do NOT stay at Parkhotel...

Do NOT stay at Parkhotel Schonbrunn.
Not worth it.

Unique Quality: This four-star hotel is beautiful. It has ballrooms and a swimming pool, all of which you must pay extra to use. We had a 'triple' room which consisted of two beds and a saggy old cot. Breakfast in this four-star hotel is held in a beautiful carpeted ballroom, surrounded by tuxedoed staff and consists of bread, jam, and a hot beverage. No meat, no cheese, no yogurt, no cereral, just rolls and jam. I can't fathom this place at all.

Help with Austria Trend Parkhotel Schonbrunn

Hi !
I and my girfriend will be in the Austria Trend Parkhotel Schönbrunn next month. We'll come to Vienna by airplane.
I'd like to know two things:
1) It is safe to use the underground metro with all the baggage (1 big Samsonite and 2 trolleys)? I suppose I'll come to the Wien Mitte Landstrasse hub and from here I'll have to catch the U4 metro to Hietzing Tiergarten, which is 200 meters from the hotel door. Any problems with thieves, drunk people or other problems at the Wien's Metro? It's better to take a Taxi from the airport paying a lot more?
2) What about the Austria Trend Parkhotel Schönbrunn? Seems to be a good hotel with a good offer.
Thank you for any kind of help!!

Hi, I spent some days in Vienna last year and used the underground a lot. I never encountered any problems with thieves or drunks.I'm sure threre are pickpockets around, as anywhere in the world where there are lots of tourists, but from my experience you should be safe. Just keep your bags close to you, be prepared to stand next to them instead of sitting down some seats away. Have some loose change ready for the musicians in the trains, so that you don't have to get your wallet out if you want to give them some money.
Have a great time, it's a wonderful city.

Thank you for your answer!
This is a good thing to know, since I'll probably have to use the underground metro in the night (around 23:00) during my stay in Vienna. I've read that there are a lot of good Concerts at the Rathaus, but my hotel is not on the city centre...

Hi!

Don´t worry not beeing in the citycenter...with the U4 you are at Karlsplatz within minutes and there you could hop on U1 and get straight to St. Stephans Cathedral...
Subway and other public transportation runs until midnight and afterwards there is a nightbus running until morning.

There is a big variety of concerts in different locations like Hofburg, Musikverein, Kursalon....but never buy a ticket on the street...there people which sell tickets for concerts which don´t even exist.
Most receptions have prochures for concerts and you also can get the tickets right there!

Have a nice stay!! If you got more questions...let me know!!

It is absolutely safe to take your luggage with you in the underground. We have done this several times and many locals do it as well. As long as you exercise normal precaution, you should have no problem - just be aware of your stuff and no one will try to take it. There are always elevators so if the escalators are for some reason being repaired, there's always a lift. just look for the lift sign (box with a big arrow pointing up)
