I'll go to Vienna in 4th october and I booked a room in Austria Trend Hotel Rathauspark, near the Rathaus and the Burgtheater. Is it a good location to stay, specially at night? Does anybody knows this hotel?
Regards.
I don't know that hotel, but the area is quiet and very close to the Ringstrasse and the centre of Vienna !
is it difficult to get airport transfer when i touch down in vienna airport?
i'll be staying at Bellevue Hotel.
There is direct train service from the airport to the city, you will have no problem
you have got any idea which station i should alight?
If this is the Bellevue Hotel located at Athanstrasse 5, here are the directions for taking public transit. Take the Airport City train to Wien Mitte, 9 Euros takes 16 minutes, or you can take S7 to Wien Mitte, 3 Euros takes 32 minutes. Get off at Wien Mitte, and transfer to the U4, direction Heiligenstadt, get off at Heiligenstadt and transfer to the S40 which will take you to the Franzjoseph Bhanhof, the hotel is very near this station
A much easier transfer - Take airport-city bus to Sudbahnhof- the bus can be found just outside the Arrivals Hall and runs about every 20 minutes. ( buy ticket on bus.) at Sudbahnhof buy city transport ticket( 1.50 euro) walk across the street to streetcar " D" and take " D" to Franz Josef Bahnhof stop. As you leave streetcar turn left walk around the corner on you will see the sign for your hotel up the street and on your left.
Saves time , a transfer and the " D" goes through the center of the city to give you a good orientation tour.
How much is a taxi from the airport to Hotel Rathauspark (Rathausstrasse 17)?
Regards.
Regular metered taxis should be something in the range of 40 EUR, although you can sometimes (i.e. when there's no business) convince them to charge a lower flat rate.
Pre-booked airport transfers are usually the cheapest and most convenient, such as these here: http://www.airportservice.at/ (don't know them personally), http://www.ck-airportservice.at/ (their homepage is an ugly mess, but the company is well-known and I've used them before).
Then there's also Mazur, a well-known airport taxi company that you can find right in the arrivals hall. I think they charge something in the range of 30 EUR (flat rate).
Of course, public transport is always the cheapest option (taking the S7 train and then connecting metro or tramway lines will cost you exactly 3 EUR). It's not quite as convenient and quick, though, as you'll have to change trains at least once.
i engaged the service of AIRPORT DRIVER while i was in vienna.
From Airport to Bellevue Hotel is about 30 Euro (flat).
Bellevue Hotel to Airpot is about 25 Euro (flat).
Prices quoted are based on 4 adults with one luggage each.
