Apartment rental
by maltese24
Hi,
i am looking at the possibility of working for 6 months - 2 years in Vienna and i'm trying to check out on accomodation. I would be looking for a single-room, cheap apartment located anywhere in vienna close to an U-bahn station, although preferably 22nd district. is it possible to give me some info about websites where i could 'browse' property/flats in vienna? or any other kind of accomodation which i could consider especially for the beginning.
thanks and regards

We rented a flat in Vienna from www.booking.com and it was a very reasonable price. However, I'm not sure if they do long-term rental but it might be worth a look - or see if there is anything suitable and contact the place directly.

Try this :
Zuwanderer-Fonds
Zentrale: Würtzlerstraße 15, 1030 Wien
Beratungsstelle: Schlachthausgasse 29 / 1. Stock, 1030 Wien
(direkt an der U3-Station Schlachthausgasse)
Tel. +43/1/795 04-122, Fax +43/1/79504-790
this is what they have in 22nd :
http://www.zuwanderer-fonds.at/Apartment_in_Wien/Apartmenthaus_Sonnenhof.html
http://www.zuwanderer-fonds.at/Apartment_in_Wien/Apartmenthaus_Neue_Donau.html
from 390 euros p.m. including heating, electricity, water
deposit is 2700 euros for the furniture, but you will get this back at the end.
very important : this works only IF you have a job in Vienna already, you will not get this for searching for a job.
No other costs.

Hi, there plenty of options available if you're looking for an apartment in Vienna. Several websites offer accommodations there. I am a student in Vienna and I found my studio via L1V Location et Vacances. They have an english website. It's cool cause it's free and you can contact owners directly. Otherwise you can check the website of Vienna city. They have rentals everywhere in the city. You can also check online newspapers.
Hope you will find your "home" soon!!

Travel Tips for Vienna
Architecture
by mrdarius
I guess Austrians are famous for their architecture, and in my opinion, rightfully so. Here is a picture of one of the several examples I could give of something that in the States would be taken for granted where in Vienna it was grandiose.

One of the most fantastic memories about Vienna is coffee. This delicacy of Vienna will melt away your wearing body! There are countless coffee shops offering so nice flavor of coffee. I'm still missing sidewalk cafes in Vienna.
Museums Quartier
by bugulma
The MuseumsQuartier Vienna (MQ) is one of the ten largest cultural quarters in the world. Located at the border of the old city in the former imperial stables, it combines institutions of different art fields, restaurants, caf?s and shops in an area of over 640,000 square feet in a post-modern ambiance, a combination of baroque buildings and modern architecture.
Museums here are : Leopold Museum, Museum of Modern Art, Kunsthalle, Architecture Center, Dschungel Wien, Zoom-Kindermuseum
Neptunbrunnen
by iandsmith
The fountain of Neptune is clearly done along classical lines and sits roughly in the centre of the garden and is like an axis with the paths radiating out from it. Frankly I think some of these statues need a bit more clothing in the Viennese winters.
MQ = Museumsquartier
by shellseeker
The new MQ is home of some very good museums ('Leopoldmuseum' or 'Museum Moderner Kunst Stiftung Ludwig' alias MUMOK or the 'Kunsthalle'). For visitors with a lot of ambitions on the things to see there is a combination ticket available (€ 22,50 ).
The Combi-Ticket covers admission to the 'Leopold Museum', the MUMOK, the 'KUNSTHALLE wien' (hall 2), the 'Architekturzentrum Wien', and the ART CULT CENTER >TABAKMUSEUM<. It is valid for two consecutive days.
