It depends a bit from where in Doebling (Nussdorferstr. is in the 9 district, U6 station Nussdorferstr. is on Guertel between Doeblinger Hauptstr. and Nusdorferstr.), but take U6 (or walk) to U4/U6 station Spittelau, U4 to Schottenring, U3 to Stadion. You can walk from there or take bus 84A.

Travel Tips for Vienna

Vienna means history

by Henkster

The Viennese people love their traditions and their proud history. They like to present their impressive old buildings, old traditional foods, their classical music and their horse carriages.

Unlike in other big cities like Paris or London - the locals will not treat the tourists as annoying and disturbing visitors to the city, but will be open and friendly.

Vienna and the Euro 2008

by longsanborn

You don't have to worry about the Euro 2008 in Vienna because the football fans are not very crazy or dangerous, as long as you stay out of the FanZone in the evenings during the main games. Vienna is generally safe and there are many security people and police all around the city to make sure visitors and fans have an enjoyable stay. Just make sure you keep your wallet and belongings close to you because there might be unscrupulous and damning petty thieves taking advantage of the festive atmosphere and joyous celebrations. There might be some over-jubilant fans - who may have too much beer from the beginning! - walking around and shouting happily, but they are generally harmless and fun to watch. During this historic event, I was happy to see the lively, colorful and festive atmosphere in the usually cool and calm Vienna city. I enjoy seeing the many nationalities and cultures coming together to celebrate the "beautiful game" of soccer.

Hofburg - In der Burg - More of Hercules' Labors

by yooperprof

Lorenzo Mattielli (1688-1748) created a series of Herculean sculptures that decorate the Hoburg, both in Michaelerplatz and In der Burg. His work can also be seen at the Karlskirche and in Melk. He must have been a very busy guy.

Stiftskirche

by bugulma

One of the impressice churches of Vienna, situated in Maria Hilfe Strasse. It was built in 1739 by Josef Emmanuil Fischer von Erlach with wonderful blue roof. The first name of the church was Garnisonkirche, that was changed in 1921.

Café Sacher Vienna

by Redang

Another "must" regarding local custom. Well, it's not cheap, but, if you can afford it, "once in a lifetime...".

This excerpt was taken from their own site:
"Experience the typical Viennese coffee house atmosphere at Café Sacher Wien and treat yourself to an Original Sacher-Torte and an Original Sacher Café. The Café Sacher at the Hotel Sacher is a glamorous meeting point for tourists and lovers of Austrian pastries alike. The Café Sacher is also home to the world’s most famous chocolate cake, the Original Sacher-Torte".
