Credit cards not welcome!
A very negative experience was the fact that my two valid credit cards (Visa and Diners) were not accepted to pay the bill. It is noteworthy that not only on booking.com but also on the hotel desk it is clearly declared to be accepted. On the eve of our departure I tried in time to pay. Unfortunately the receptionist told me that a required approvement via phone was not possible in that time (20.30 pm) but it would be the next day. On the day of our departure another receptionist informed me in advance that their “terminal” (?) that approves credit cards was out of order and she could not say when it was going to work again. Then she stated bluntly that only cash would be accepted and recommended a nearby Bank (Bawag, 500m away). As a result I found myself in the unpleasant situation of looking for money a little time before I left the room. I felt cheated and I consider the hotel’s explanations not convincing. In my opinion this kind of treatment indicates at least lack of professionalism and minimal respect to the customer.
