Hotel Austria - A hidden gift

    by

I stayed in Austria Hotel last week and it was good.

I decided to reserved there for the comments and advises of other VT's.
    And I do not regret.

Location is GREAT. Just 2 block from Stephenplatz Catedral and metro Swedenplatz 1 block away.

Desk people is so friendly, they speak english and spanish too.

    Price is very good!

Room is clean ans spacious, it has tv, and appliances are good.
I have bathroom and shower outside of the room in the same floor, but IT IS NOT SHARED. It is all yours. I like it.

I could not have breakfast because my flight was too early.

WI-FI Internet in ALL rooms free!

I would definitely recommend it.It is a little hide and outside was underconstruction when I stayed there but when yu got it is beautiful!

    Unique Quality: Great location.
    Good rooms.

    The best location

    by

90 Euro for a room with a shared bath. It was very quiet, we never saw another person on our floor so it was like having our own bathroom. This is a very elegant old hotel in an excellent location. Walking distance to St Stephen’s. It was a hotel that had been rebuilt on the site of a 15th century hotel which was destroyed in WW11. There is a top notch huge breakfast included in the price.

  • a nice hidden hotel

    by

We stayed at Hotel Austria between November 3-7, 2005. We enjoyed it very much.

Unique Quality: Location is great. It is in walking distance to nearly everything. Very close to the metro station. Buffet Breakfast is fine. Staff is very helpful and friendly. Rooms are comfortable. Bathrooms are newly decorated. I recommend you to ask for rooms facing the courtyard not the entrance of the hotel because you might get disturbed by the noise.

  • Great location, clean and reasonable

Stayed with my husband in the Hotel Austria in Vienna in mid-November 2004. Nice size room with a foyer and bathroom that had a separate room for the toilet. Felt spacious in comparison with many other European hotels we've stayed in (3 star).

Front desk personnel were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The breakfasrt buffet is huge. Around the corner is a taxi stand and 2 blocks away is the U-Bahn and Trams. Convenience is great. Not trendy, but comfortable and very clean.

    Would definitely recommend.

Note: Price below is per person.

Unique Quality: Quiet, as all windows face a courtyard.

    Free internet access in lobby.

Directions: In Inner Ring on narrow historic street.

  • Reasonable, Great Location

Hotel Austria - It's nice to go posher

    by

After weeks of staying in bed & breakfasts and pensions, it was nice to stay in a real hotel. This hotel was very nice. It is toward the low end of hotels in Vienna, but it is quite nice. (I can't imagine the posh ones)

Cost for two people was €115/ night.

Unique Quality: The room has a mini-bar. Unlike most mini-bars in hotels, it was reasonablly priced. (A 22 oz beer was only €2.30). The breakfast was quite nice as well.

Directions: The Schweden U-Bahn stop is nearby

Terriffic place

Was totally disappointed with a place i had checked into which i found via a travel book. I went for a walk and half a block away saw a quaint sign for Hotel Austria on the side of a building with an arrow pointing down an old world looking alley. I took a look and was instantly pleased. They had a room, it was less money the the dump i had just checked to. I swapped hotels immediately and couldn't have been happier. Wonderful service, quiet room, excellent location, huge ceilings, mammoth windows overlooking a courtyard and in a very reasonable price to boot - whats not to love! If ever i go to vienna again - you know where I'll be staying.

Perfect location - central to shops, St Stephen's Cathedral and underground!

The staff at Hotel Austria were an absolute delight - very helpful, extremely friendly and only too happy to make recommendations and bookings when asked. The hotel itself was clean, tastefully decorated and the twin rooms that we had were a good size, clean and comfortable. The buffet breakfast offered a great selection. The hotel was located in a quiet cobbled street which was perfectly located - a five minute walk to the underground station and a couple of minutes from the busy shopping strip near St Stephen's Cathedral. The restaurants surrounding were great - highly recommend Go Wok - very friendly staff, and the restaurant by the hotel - very authentic food, really tasty ( on the left as you walk down the cobbled street towards the hotel and next to the karaoke bar (also good fun if you want to indulge on a Friday or Saturday night)). Also handy was a local Spar Supermarket just around the corner from the hotel for bottled water and anything you may have forgotten.
The only thing I would say and it was the smallest thing really, was the cobbled street echoed quite a bit so people outside could be heard but as it was a quiet street it wasn't too much of a problem. Great hotel and great staff - would definitely go back!

Re: Food

Have you asked the Hotel if they cater for vegetarians or the local tourist office (you dont say the name of the town where you are staying) if they can recommend somewhere suitable.

My experience of Austrian hotels is they will move mountains to make your stay good. If you give them a list of what you can or cannot eat they will try to help (if they can understand).

Contact your hotel and explain your needs and I am sure they will please you.
