cosy hotel, friendly environment
My husband and I spent 4 days in Vienna so we chose this hotel and fortunately we were not disappointed. Once arriving, we were greeted by a very friendly receptionist. The hotel rooms were spacious enough, you don't really need anything bigger in Vienna because you are constantly out sightseeing :-)
Breakfast was rich, we must say. The waitors catered for us all the time, asking if we wanted some coffee or tea refill. Moreover, when there was a misunderstanding with one of the tours we had booked, the lady in the reception desk was so kind that she called the company herself and clarified the misunderstanding. This is not something they would have done in the New York hotel where we had stayed in.
The hotel is also in a very good location, right at the heart of the shopping street. Major sights are also close by so that gives you the chance to walk and enjoy the lovely city of Vienna. We would definitely recommend it. It was a lovely experience staying at Kummer hotel.

Best location, best conditions
We have been the guests of the hotel for 2 nights, 6/7 and 7/8 september. We want to remark the high quality of the staff, the nice facilities and the wonderful breakfast.
Unique Quality: Great location, in the middle of "the golden shopping mile" - Mariahilferstrasse.

Good Hotel Close to Westbanhof
Hotel was great. Before we arrived the staff e-mailed directions from the airport to the hotel, which was very helpful! In general the staff was very professional and helpful.
The buffet breakfast was great and rooms were nice. Prices were a bit higher than other hotels in the area, but worth the extra few dollars for good location and pleasant staff!
Unique Quality: The hotel is conviniently located a few blocks from the Westbanhof train station (easy walking distance) and is across the street from an underground/metro stop.

Good to shop
.Very grand entrance to the hotel and the staff are very helpful, giving excellent service.The breakfast is very impressive and is very good quality. Ideally situated on mariahilfer strasse one of the main shopping areas in Vienna. The rooms are a good size and the rooms are well kept. I have stayed here both times I have been to Vienna and will stay there again.
Unique Quality: Directly over the underground so is ideally located for travelling around Vienna as well not far to walk to catch the U3 line whcih takes you right into the main square.

How to reach us by means of public transport:
From the Airport:
The new City Airport Train, CAT, will take you to Station Wien-Mitte in about 16 minutes. Departures every 30 minutes, Eur 9,-- per person single fare. Underground U3 direction Ottakring to Neubaugasse/Amerlingstrasse, where you will find the Hotel Kummer.
From West Railway Station: (Westbahnhof)
Underground U3 direction Simmering, only 2 stops to Neubaugasse/ Amerlingstrasse, where you will find the Hotel Kummer or directly by walk within 7 -10 minutes only.
From South Railway Station: (Südbahnhof)
Bus 13A direction Alserbachstrasse to Mariahilfer Strasse, Hotel Kummer.

whenever you are looking for the cheapest, the CAT with 9 euros one way is always OUT OF QUESTION !!!
Not even for the fastest I would recommend the CAT, except when you stay in the Hilton next to Stadtpark.
Take the S-bahn to Wien Mitte-Landstrasse and change there to U3, get out in station Neubaugasse.
It takes 37 minutes and costs 3,60 euros one way, or you pay 1,80 plus a dayticket for the Zone 100, that is valid the whole day.
CAT + U3 is just 29 min to this hotel and I really wonder if these 8 minutes difference are worth the extra amount of 9 euros, because for U3 you need another ticket of 1,80 in addition !
