16th district - Ottakring
by pakistanibrain
Heuriger is an essential part of traditional Viennese culture. It's the place where friends come together to spend their weekend there and have fun. The Heuriger Alt-Ottakring is one of the most famous ones and is located in the "old" part of Ottakring
Ottakring (that's how the 16th district is called) is a relatively small district and not really spectacular. When the U3 (underground line) was extended to the West, it's last station was built right in the middle of Ottakring, which caused a revitalization of that area. It is now seen as a nice place to live, which was not always the case.
Street Music
by TinKan
Around the town you will find many collage students making music to collect money. Many of the kids are out there for 8 hours a day when the tourist are out and about.
You can hear some very good music and it is all for free but you could leave a little something in their box.
