Very Comfortable Stay

Best (5.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on September 15, 2014

We stayed in this hotel for two nights in July 2014. We had booked a suite. This was on a high floor with only one other bedroom on that floor. We had a clean bathroom, a little sitting area with TV, fridge, tea/coffee making facilities, safe. Our bedroom was very clean and comfortable. Our room was so nice, it even seemed a shame to go out.

Breakfast at this hotel was very good with fresh bread rolls, cheeses, cold meats, hot food, cereal, fruit, salads. Coffee was from a machine that made lots of different types of coffees and was very good. There was also a good selection of teas.

The hotel location is very convenient for the Westbahnhof Station. There were restaurants nearby as well as in the hotel itself. There were lots of supermarkets nearby. We walked into the ring area in about 20 minutes.

Our room was really quiet at night and we slept really well.

We were entitled to a free drink in the hotel bar as Accor members. I had a glass of wine and my husband had a beer. The barman was very cheerful and friendly.

Check out was quick, efficient and accurate. I would love to stay here again.

Near the Westbahnhof (train station west)

Good (3.0 of 5.0 stars)

The location is perfect if you are arriving or departing from Westbahnhof. The room I stayed in was the poorest so far from the Accor hotels I've stayed in so far. But the breakfast was great! Smelled nice, well-presented, and tasted very good!

Unique Quality: Near the train station, quiet. From Westbahnhof, you can take the bus to the Vienna International Airport. The trains go to neighbouring countries of Austria. A very convenient location.

Directions: Underground train station U3. Near Mariahilferstrasse - the longest shopping street in Vienna.

A bit of a dissapointment

Bad (2.0 of 5.0 stars)

I am an Accor chain of hotels fan. So I have obviously got the internet special price for a stay in one Mercure hotel in Vienna (out of five in the city). Mercure is a four star hotel so I've expected much. My dissapointments are the following:

1. We were not asked if we want a non-smoking room and we got a room on one smoking floor, so that in the midnight when a fellow neighbour decided to have a cigar you can smell the smoke,
2. There is NO WiFi in every room as written in the description of the hotel - you can come with your laptop in the lobby and have to pay 8eur/hour (!!), or wait indefinitely to catch the online desktop computer available;
3. The carpet in the room was very used and gives an impression of a three star hotel near a train station (though we were near a train station - but hey it's a four star hotel not so cheap);
4. Parking was 15eur/night .. wow that's a rip off .. 75eur just the parking.

So maybe you might want to try other hotels like Novotel (also four star Accor hotel).

Just next door to Westbahnhof

Great (4.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on May 12, 2004

Hotel Dorint is a newly built hotel inside a traditional building just a few meters from Vienna's biggest trainstation "Westbahnhof"

Unique Quality: You simply get out of the train and take the exit on the upper level on the left, or you go down the escalator and turn to the left in front of the station.
about 100 meters to walk from there and cross 1 street.

Just opposite the hotel you can take tram 18 to Belvedere
or the subway to the opera

On my pic : The big parking in front of Westbahnhof with the hotel in the background !

Directions: Just about 100 meters from the trainstation "Wien Westbahnhof"

we had two disappointing weeks at this hotel....from December 22nd 2013 up until January 5th 2014...arriving early on a Sunday our room was not ready and for 2 days the heating did not work properly. The staff were mostly all very formal. The room size was tiny....accommodation for our dogs back home in Bandung is larger than the size of our room. The wi-fi worked partly....not all the time....and our biggest let-down was the so called Christmas Dinner. Used to a really nice Christmas Dinner in Bandung Indonesia, we thought it'd be nice to have a Christmas Feast in Vienna.....there was a menu with the only Christmas dish listed as Goose......the waitress then told us the kitchen had run out of Goose and we could choose from the normal menu.....I asked for steak which turned out to be heavily salted......so this was the first year of a "Non-Christmas Dinner"! The meals apart from the included breakfast were so expensive that we often had to revert to McDonalds which in Vienna is the best value food.
On arrival no help at all from any porter....on leaving the lady supervisor of housekeeping kindly helped us down with our bulky luggage.
I guess we are spoilt by our Hotels within Indonesia......those who manage and run the Mercure in Vienna (Westbahnhoff) should visit our city and find out that courtesy matters!!!
