Nearest to the Hofburg

The Receptionists are very professional (helpful, attentive). Buffet breakfast was very good. The room I was in was quiet and very clean. I stayed in this place because I attended the IAEA Ball at the Hofburg and I did not have to walk far in a very cold early morning.

Unique Quality: I would suggest to stay in Pension Pertschy to people who would like to be in the heart of the city or to those who have engagements at the Hofburg.

A terrific hotel!

We really enjoyed our stay at Pension Pertschy. The price was perfect (we found an internet rate on their website) and the location was superb...right off Graben, near St. Stephens. The room was large and very comfortable. Our room faced a courtyard so it was very quite. Breakfast was also quite good.

Unique Quality: The best feature of this hotel is its terrific location.

Great location and comfortable accomodation

Pension Pertchy has a great location on a side street of Graben right next to the Hofburg Castle.

Service was polite and helpful, and there is free internet access for guests.

There aren't many facilities, but I wouldn't expect them from a pension either.

Rooms are furnished with period furniture, so it is also quite romantic. We had " a small" double room, but it really wasn't that small.

I would definitely recommend and stay there again.

A Nice, hidden oasis. (Well, we LOVED it ;)

Used to be a palace. Rooms are very nice, the decor is pleasing.

Unique Quality: It is located RIGHT in the center of Wien. On one end of the street is the Graben. VERY Nice, very friendly staff. Add in the decor and I almost felt like a distant cousin of The old Emperor...

Unique Quality: Room was nicely appointed - quiet - clean. Not the Four Seasons but not Motel 6 either. The staff was very helpful arranging dinner reservations and calling cabs.

Pension Pertschy in the Heart of the Ring

I spent a week at Pension Pertschy in early October and was more than pleased with the room, the staff, and the wonderful breakfast room. Pension Pertschy is located one block from the Spanish Riding School and the Hofburg Palace. It's within walking distance to shopping, restaurants and sights. The staff is outstanding! They are ready to give directions, help with tickets to concerts and explain Austrian customs. The breakfast room serves a hearty breakfast with both hot and cold entrees accompanied by a friendly "Morgan." The pension also has a computer with internet access for the use of guests. I was charmed by the elegant large room. I highly recommend the Pension Pertschy.

In Vienna, Pertschy Pensionen is beautiful! A little on the expensive side (1380 AS for a double rm), but we were willing to spend the extra bucks for such a lovely place - and a central location. The place is old, with ceramic furnaces in the hallway, old tall doorways, and worn marble stairs. They also have a computer in the lobby free for guests to use - it is in the piano! Breakfast is included. See www.pertschy.com for more info.

Has anybody stayed there before? Any recommendations would be appreciated. As to accomodation, location (subway, museums and other things of interest). Thanks in advance.

Yeah - stayed there loads of times (maybe 6?) - would recommend it very highly indeed. It's a little bit beyond my means but I try to go back at least once a year. The rooms are quaint, very comfortable, a bit quirky and well equipped with good bathrooms and (bliss) a minibar for those all-important cold drinks (in the summer months, a godsend). The breakfasts are nice, the staff are super-efficient, and there is even a free internet terminal in the lobby for guests. The location is fantastic - just steps from the Graben (pedestrianized shopping street) smack in the middle of everything - within minutes of all the main sights including Stephansdom, Opera, Albertina museum etc. Particularly close to the Hofburg and the Spanish Riding School (approx 3 min walk!). It's a quiet location but there's loads of restaurants and cafes to hand and both buses and Ubahn (Herrengasse and Stephansplatz so U3 and U1) are close by (1 minute to bus stop, perhaps 2-3 mins to Ubahn). Pertschy can't be bettered in my book - if I was rolling in loot, I'd stay there every time I went to Vienna.

We stayed there last month and very much recommend the hotel. It has an old, yet attractive, kind of royal feel to it. It is also extremely convenient for sightseeing and hoping onto the metro. Car parking is somewhat difficult to find, although you can get a parking slot about 15 mins away for 16 euros a day.

Enjoy Vienna!
