Austria Trend Rathauspark - does anyone know it?

by BrunoB

I'll go to Vienna in one month and I would like to know if anyone knows the Austria Trend Hotel Rathauspark, in Rathausstrasse 17. Is it a good location? Is it a good hotel? Are there restaurants nearby to go at night?

Best regards.

Bruno

Don't know the hotel, but the location is very good. Very central, lots of interesting places in walking distance nearby.

I stayed at the Austria Trend Hotel Ananas on Pilgramgasse a few weeks ago... It sounds like your hotel is part of the same chain - in which case you won't be disappointed, my hotel was really nice with a fabulous breakfast. Have a great time in Vienna!

Thank you!

Maria, yes, my hotel is part of the same chain that yours (Austria Trend). I would stay in Ananas, but I thought about the location (I would have to take always the subway) and changed to Rathauspark, that is near the city hall.

Travel Tips for Vienna

Vienna Tip

My fondest memory of the trip to Vienna is the visit to the themepark Prater. I like having fun when I travel and it was great to find a themepark in the middle of town. Don't miss the large ferriswheel. It gives you a great view to the city and the themepark itself. For more information visit http://www.prater.at

A parliament

by Skipka

The building of Parliament is from 1873-1883 built by Theophil Hansen. His aim was to evocate respect of Antic art and democracy what are the basic ideas in every parliament (wow, how ironic it sounds :)) Well, the building of Parliament is typical Greek style with tympanion and corinthian pillars, excellently decorated. In front of the building is a big fountain of Palas Athena and three lying persons representing rivers Danube, Morava, Labe and Inn. Vienna could be thankful for this fountain to sculptor Kundmann.

What's the weather...?

by reeka

Also as part of the cruise before turning round again we saw this building which is the meteorological centre for Vienna.

Quite a cute building.

By this stage though the boat cruise had nearly lasted one and a half hours and frankly I'd and most people had had enough of the tour.

22nd district - Donaustadt

by pakistanibrain

The Donauturm (Danube Tower) is a 252 meter high structure in the middle of the Donaupark. It has two express lifts that take you up to the observation desk (Height 150 meters) and to the revolving restaurants (at 160 and 170 meters). From there you can see all around Vienna and also get a view of the Wienerwald (forest around Vienna). You can also do Bungee jumping from the observation desk when the weather allows it.

Donaustadt (that's how the 22nd district is called) is the largest district of Vienna by its area as well as by its population. It stretches all over the Eastern part of Vienna and touches the Danube on one side and some small villages outside Vienna on the other side. I live in the 22nd district myself and it's a really nice and calm place to live with a lot of greenery.

Remote control watering!

by tiabunna

Am I alone in being fascinated by the sight of unfamiliar gadgetry used by municipal authorities? You are also? Well, at least there are two of us!

The Viennese gadget which prompts this tip was the “tree watering truck”, seen in these photos splashing water on the trees and gardens in Columbusplatz, just outside our hotel. I hadn’t seen one of these previously. The driver simply rolls up and by remote control extends an arm from the cab, then drenches the greenery as needed. What a great job this would be for all those kids who spend their time driving joysticks for video games!
