    Concert & Pool

    by

Had a great weekend in Vienna. Saw Mark knopfler in the Stadthalle and stayed at this great hotel. Fantastic buffet breakfast and we relaxed Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning at the rooftop pool. Use of pool, bathrobes and extra towels all inclusive. Excellent.
We also travelled with ÖBB from Klagenfurt - bargain offer for both of us on the train.

Unique Quality: Great weekend price offer, free use of pool, great buffet breakfast

    Renassaince out there

    by

The hotel was okay for the amenities and location being close to the rail to downtown. The staff were very friendly and the food on breakfast buffet was good and plentiful. Cheeses and sausages were stacked high. The location was far from most anything else. The only salvation was the underground was 1/2 block away. If you wanted to eat in the area, however, there is very little to choose from Also, the underground was dirty and felt almost unsafe getting into the Ring.
Rooms were kind of small and temperature not able to be adjusted.

Directions: 4 miles west of the Ring and 1 mime west is Schoenbrunn Palace.

    Renaissance at Medling

    by

There are 2 Renaissance - one is penta and this one is just wien. This is further from the city centre - about 20 km. we stayed here becos we had coupons from the Marriott hotel reward program.

Very touristy hotel. Located near a train station Medling, and within 10 minutes or so you are in the city centre.

8 -10 brisk minutes walk Schonbrunn Palace and Gardens.

A 5 minutes walk there is MacDonald, Nordic fast food, and Billa supermarket chain and there was even a small craft market while I was there on a Saturday morning (starts around 9.30- 10.00 am)

if you get lost - then tell people it is the pink hotel!!!

the rooms are good sized, i was disappointed there was no kettle etc to make coffee or boil water to drink etc.

but the staff are very friendly - lots of American and Japanese tourists come here - you will see bus loads~!!!!

Unique Quality: cost is 106 euro for weekends and weekdays around 125 euro

    Luxurious hotels in Vienna

    by

I stayed at Renaissance Wien Hotel, a 5* hotel close to Schoenbrunn Palace. The rate I got was relatively cheap (about $90 per night, buffet breakfast included). Great hotel, cosy rooms, nutritious breakfast, helpful staff… what else a traveller would need?

Unique Quality: The picture is not of the hotel, of course, just carriages in front of Hofburg

Directions: Near the metrostation Meidling Hauptstrasse, ten minutes to the center (Karlsplatz) by metro.

More about Renaissance Wien Hotel

Churches

by Sharrie

It was surprising to me on my 1st visit years ago that Vienna has soooooo many churches & incredible ones as well.

All kind of designs; Gothic, Baroque, Roccoco & Renaissance.

Vienna was what epitomised Europe for me. Not so much Paris since my first visit wasn't that pleasant. Neither was it Rome as we were on a tour then & other than rushing from place to place every day & night, I don't recall anything that pleasant an experience then.

Architecturally-wise, I think this is quite a city ... easy to navigate, well maintained & beautifully constructed!
