by AnatolyZ
First,I want to wish all of you merry christmas and a happy new year!
and to bother you with a small but a ighly important question...
Where exactly (which street?)is the ÖBB ticket counter to collect my ticket in Vienna...(Berlin-->Vienna ticket which i ordered online)...They wrote me i can pick the tickets from the ticket-vending machines there and gave me a code for it...the problem i don't know where is it located and when can i come there to pick my tickets,,is it 24H?(hope the tickets are still in the machines ,after all a week almost passed since the email)...
Thank you very much ALL!
Warmest regards

Trains from Vienna to Berlin leave from the Westbahnhof - I'm sure you can find this on a map of Vienna without an address but it's in the 15th district, on the "Gürtel": Mariahilferstrasse runs from here to the centre. Although parts of that station are currently closed for extensive construction work (until 2011), trains continue to arrive there and you will find ticket machines there as well as the ÖBB travel center, see also www.oebb.at.

Try the airport train station. It sounds like all you have to do is enter your code into one of the ticket machines there and it will print out the ticket you ordered.
Travel Tips for Vienna
THE VIENNA CARD
by mel_bee
The Vienna card seems like a good deal especially if you want to do lots of cultural things. There are 180 discounts you can get for things such as museums and sights, theatres, concerts, shops, restaurants, cafés and Heurigen and it costs around 16.90 Euro. It gives unlimited free travel for 72 hours within Vienna (after which you could buy just a usual travel pass if you plan on staying longer). You can get it at hotels, the Tourist Info (1st district, Albertinaplatz, open 9:00 am – 7:00 pm), at sales offices of the Vienna Transportation System (e.g. Stephansplatz, Karlsplatz, Westbahnhof, Landstrasse/Wien Mitte) or from anywhere by credit card (+43-1-798 44 00-128). You will get a small book with the card that explains how you use it.
Neue Hofburg

This is south wing of Wiener Burg and it is built in Neo-Baroque ''Ringstrasse style''. Nowdays it houses a part of Kunsthistorisches Museum… On the right of the picture you can see the Prince Eugene Monument.
Visit St. Stephan's cathedral....

Visit St. Stephan's cathedral. At the basement, for 3 Euros, you can see these mass graves, with the bones piled up high on top of one another... The basement tour is set at different times, please check ahead before you go..
No photos allowed either...
The rooftop is all mosaic...
The classic touch
by iandsmith
Yes, this is just an attempt to put a bit of your classical Roman touch into the gardens, albeit with that Greek influence.
Northern Europe's, and I suspect most people's, fondness for the classical lines is the reason behind the sculptures and "ruins" located around the middle of the gardens.
Kino Unter Sternen - Cinema Under the Stars
by yooperprof
Outdoor Movie Festivals! The Viennese love 'em. In the summer there are several outdoor film venues scattered all over the city and its suburbs. The most famous is the prestigious musical film series at the Rathaus in the Ringstrasse, but there are others that are certainly worth a view. An excellent series is put on at the Augarten - Kino Unter Sternen. Much to my regret, I only made it there once - but if and when I return to Vienna in summertime I'll be back. The films are generally shown in their original language, with German subtitles - which meant that I got to see the brilliantly catty 1939 comedy "The Women" (Joan Crawford, Rosalind Russell, and Norma Shearer battling over a man) in English. The film festivals give the Viennese an opportunity to gather in public with friends, which seems to be something that they genuinely love to do. At the Augarten, there was a festive atmosphere as at a beer garden, with inexpensive brew and excellent food available for dining al fresco.
