We will be five adults between 50-68 wanting to spend about 3 nights in Vienna in early to mid-December. We will arrive-depart via train. Main purpose of visit is to see the Christmas Market along with a musical experience at (perhaps) the Kursalon, a little shopping etc. We need either 2 double and 1 single room or a three bedroom suite (if that even exists and works out to be similar/less priced). We'd like to splurge in Vienna and get an "upper" 4 star or "affordable" 5 star hotel in city center. Does anyone have suggestions? Assume 500-550 euros per night??? Thanks in advance for help/suggestions

i can recommend the hotel europa which is more the modern style but if you prefer a typical traditional viennese style hotel then stay at the hotel astoria.

We stayed at Mercure Wien Zentrum hotel. It is good located in my opinion , very near the centre so maybe you will look at their page in the internet. Wishing you a good travel to Vienna.
The hotel RATHAUSPARK is right beside the city hall (Rathaus) were the big christmas market is. it is a decent 4 star. about prices it really is the best to check in the internet, they are much much cheaper than asking in the hotel directly. a great hotel - no stars, but i would give it 5 - popstars like to stay here, is the DAS TRIEST - a designer hotel.and if you need a professional tourist guide you can contact me. regards silvia

That should not be too difficult - try www.austria.info - there is a accommodations page. You should not have a problem finding a good hotel for that rate. I prefer the Hotel Ambassador (right in Kaerntner Strasse), the Hotel Stephansdom (right across the St. Stephen's Cathedral), Hotel Sacher (behind the Opera) but off course there are many more.
