The view from our terrace... by titabell I have been driving for 16 hours straight and the least I could do is find an accommodation where I can put my tired body to rest. We took Hotel Adler by chance. It was the first hotel that caught our eyes. We arrived at night, and a very friendly and accommodating "YOUNG" girl receptionist made us feel very welcome. She even asked me if she would open the door to the pool area so that we could go for a swim. It has complete facilities, but we didn't bother really because it was rest and serenity that we were after. We had a marvelous view from our window and a good size terrace, where we could sit down and relax.
Unique Qualities: The room was a typical Austrian interior. It even had a dining table. Very chic. The bathroom was extra modern, clean and superb. BREAKFAST? Gee! all those local cheese! and served by the friendly hotel staff! It was a great experience for my son and I. The price is a bit more expensive than average, but I think it's worth it. I was able to park my car just in front of the hotel. It also has a train stop just before its door so it is definitely accessible by public transport. It was summer when we came, and it was very quiet. The locals were friendly. Unfortunately, I couldn't find an English version of their website. Feel free to surf on their German website anyway. If you need more infos, you can e-mail them directly.

With hotels like any real estate location is key. The Franz Pension Hotel is located on the north side of the Old City almost directly across the street from St. Stephens Catherdral. A five minute walk got us to the tram stop that circles the Old City.
Don't mistake this hotel for a luxury hotel. There is an elevator but there are still stairs to climb. We enjoyed the very distinctive "Old world" charm. The decor is out of the Hapsburg glory days. The rooms were clean, water hot, and they serve a good breakfast. The breakfast buffet - especially if you like a traditional European breakfast - was unbelievable!

The Grand Hotel at the Zeller See (Jan 1988) by pchamlis We didn't stay here, but did visit a couple of times for events. Typical 4 or 5 star larger European resort hotel...excellent service, lots of features and yes... pricey. If you don't like the small inns that Bonnie and I prefer, the Grand is an excellent choice, both for location and features. I was here for 2 nights coming from one of my favorite hostels, Easy Palace in Munich. This former dormitory for Olympic athletes is large, friendly, convenient to public transportation, and spotless. It is a large hostel and easy to get to from the main train station. The bus lets you off right in front of the facility. The staff is wonderfully friendly and helpful. Breakfast is included as is bed linen. The rooms are spotless as are the bathrooms and toilets. A super gasthaus and theater with nightly free Tirolean entertainment is within 200 M. While the rooms are slightly small (the only reason for not receiving a top rating), everything else about this hostel is high up on the scale. Highly recommended.
The Austrian and German Jugendherberge are set up to serve the youth and families of the respective countries. Not a "party" hostel, Jugendherberge Innsbruck's accommodations are as good as any and better than most. Bus stops directly in front of the hostel in both directions. Great for families with lots of activities. Really helpful staff. Excellent and reasonable Tirolean food is only a couple of doors away and the restaurant also has free entertainment. Great goulaschsuppe!!!

The hotel is close to the main train station and bus stop. Therefore, it is convenient to travel get into the heart of old town and get around. If you arrive by plane, it is easy to take bus no. 2 from the airport to get to the train station and walk from there for few minutes. The room is not big. The bathroom is ok. There is no English channel for TV. The breakfast has many selections compared to other hotels in the same class (2 star). There is an internet shop located just acroos the street. The reception staff is nice and helpful in giving you an information.
