passport control requirement

by yut

Is there a passport control when flying from moscow to minsk?
same question for the railway from moscow to minsk?

Re: passport control requirement

by Amalker

In airport โ€“ definitely yes. In both.
In train โ€“ no immigration control, but you have to show you passport to train stuff on departure.
So, if you want enter country (BTW โ€“ which one?), illegal, - you have to use different route.
And what is your citizenship?

Re: passport control

by yut

I want to go to Minsk. I have a valid Russian visa but not a Belarus Visa.

so, is it possible to travel by train without having the belarussian visa?

Re: passport control requirement

by Amalker

i highly do not recommended you doing this.
not only only due to it illegal, but it serious resk.

read the story of cameroon footbals player in belarus.

Its too dangerous gamble with a state in here.

But ist only proposition.

Travel Tips for Minsk

Minsk people: Beautiful or not beautiful?

by Ben_Dallosto

These people have very gentle manners. They are very reserved. The ordinary man/woman of the street is polite and will help you in case of troubles.

On the other side I would like to describe a bit the kind of "beauty" you're a likely to meet in Minsk.
80% of the population in Minsk are of the ethnic group called Belarusian.
Belarus people have quite small and round eyes placed more or less far from each other and quite "inside" the visage. The colour is in most cases very light blue or green.
Their noses have a very flat and long upper part (as if they had no nose-bone). The nostril (the last part of the nose, made of cartilage) is quite long (pinocchio-style:-).
They have no fleshy lips at all.
The skin colour is very very white. Unhealthy life-style (too much smoking, bad nutrition) is reflected on the skin.
Bodies aren't very well trained. Average height for men is about 175cm. Women aren't the kind of busty beauties, being quite flat chested.

Cathedral (The Holy Spirit Cathedral)

by bugulma

The cathedral is situated in Neiga area, just near of exit of the metro station. It was built in 1642 and then reconstructed in the end of XVII century. The cathedral was built in time when Mins was a part of the catholic Lithuanian Kingdom and has a classical style in architecture. Now it is orthodox, though.

Old and very new buildings

by Raimix

The oldest structures in Minsk you could find are from 17th - 18th centuries (Minsk Orthodox main Cathedral, Bernardine monastery). The old town is from the 19th century. Anyway, almost all Minsk was built or rebuilt at the middle of 20th century - most with soviet style structures.

For longer time city haven't had such called "skyscrapers", but now it is possible to see tall glass buildings as well (National Belarusian Library, so on).

Victory Square

by bugulma

Minsk is one of the hero-cities of USSR which had the name after World War II. The city was destroyed completely and rebuilt once again after that war. Near of Svisloch River and Central Park there is Victory Square with 40 meters high monument. It is interesting to see details undeground as well.

City Hall

by bugulma

The city hall was built in the beginning of XVII century. Then reconstructed in the end of XVIII century and unfortunately destroyed in 1851. In XXI century it was decided to rebuilt it and since 2003 Minsk has the city hall again in its historical place.
