    I really enjoyed my time at the George V Hotel as the management was very friendly and helpful. The rooms where on the small side but quite clean and quite with cable TV. The hotel is also well located, being near the Grand Place, which was only about 15 minutes away by foot. There are also many good restaurants and bars in the neighborhood towards the north of the hotel.
    On the downside is that the immediate neighborhood itself at first appeared to be a little threatening, in particular towards the south. However I encountered no problems. In fact this neighborhood is supposedly turning the corner and becoming rather trendy. Urban redevelopment takes place in Europe too. Finally a helpful tip if you want to do your own laundry, there is a very good laundromat just around the corner from the hotel.

    Here is a hotel I booked primarily for the location. I knew I would need quick access to the Central Station (a very impressive building), so I decided upon the Hotel Terminus, which is virtually across the street. To be honest I do not think all that much of the place. My problem was with the room which, a single, was kind of small and smelled because of problem with the plumbing. But then again I did not stay in Antwerp to hang out in my hotel room.

    The hotel is best for its location. Most of the major attractions in Antwerp are within walking distances. There are also all kinds of bars and restaurants that will cater to all budgets in the vicinity.

    If you want to spend a romantic weekend in Belgium, you should really go to Damme, a lil village near the coast. At 2 km of the centre of Damme lies a beautiful farm,called 'de stamper'. I'm sure you'll have THE perfect weekend there!

    I had come across this new edition to the roadside hotels that I often used when travelling around Europe, particularly France, Switzerland, Germany and a few in the UK, when I was looking for somewhere to stay along the freeway heading south of Paris and ended up near Auxerre, France but found one also along a freeway in Belgium.

    I usually have used HotelFormule1 hotels but this time this looked inviting with free Wifi internet considering the prices Id been paying for internet access just the previous days in Paris.
    And as Formule1 a book can be obtained at the entrance which gives you a good map showing you the locations of their hotels to be found around whichever countries they are located in. Ive always found this very handy for my independent and often uncommitted schedules and routes as I drive and travel around but provides often a more time efficient access to somewhere to stay, especially an advantage when with this I often jam a lot into my day and end looking for somewhere fairly late at night.

    These roadside hotel chains are based on the principles that even after reception has closed if someone/a freeway traveller requires a place to sleep for the night they can still utilise their hotel by having an automated credit card paying machine with a pin code system to enter the room alotted to you at the time of payment.

    The HotelFormule1 complexes are usually in industrial or commercial areas along freeways and are much like big warehouse type buildings converted into rooms as hotels with each room having a security pin number system for entry and bathrooms and facilities outside the rooms.
    The B&B hotel chain are obviously catering to a more upmarket traveller ie not as rough and ready and wanting a bit more comfort and quality with nicer furnishings and roomier bedrooms and bathrooms. Wifi internet access is also included. Slightly higher prices of course accordingly.

    this exhuberant town just has the nicest vibes, young people abound (must be a university town) and the homes along the river are exceeding beautiful...

    Hotel Formule One located at Antwerpen Noord is a two star budget hotel for motorists travelling across mainland Europe. The amenities and facilities are simple and basic with bathroom/WC located at the corridor. The three storey hotel has approximately 60 rooms which can accommodate up to three persons per room. A simple reasonable price buffét breakfast can be booked the night before your breakfast. The dinning room is located just opposite the reception counter.

    Its unique quality is its location along the busy highway.

    This was one of those hotels I stayed in purposely for the fact that it was near the train station. I did alot of this in Belgium because I rushed through some towns really fast. The Ascona was a rather featureless sort of place that I thought might have been a bit overpriced. The staff was friendly enough and the room was huge. As for the building, it was a big cement block.

    The room was large by European standards. It was also very bright. I did not spend alot on hotel rooms on this trip so the minibar was a surprise. If you like Belgium beer that this will prove to be a added plus.

    Didnt stay here - as the B&B Hotel chain include Wifi internet access in their room charges which for me presents better value -
    b ut this place was next door, amongst the hotels that seem to have mushroomed from the original Formule1 Roadside hotel chain - 24 hour hotels that are at rest stop facility centres along the freeways that are set up so that as long as there are vacancies, aimed at drivers that may need easily accessed drive in accommodation.
    With a automated machine and credit card paying system customers can purchase a room for the night after closing hours - the machine will print out a security pin code for entrance into your room.
    This place is cheaper as it doesnt have a security perimeter fence nor access to the internet.

    These roadside hotels with after hours access are excellent when you are doing a lot of freeway driving and also enable accommodation without the hassle and time consuming task of trying to find your way around town streets for Guide book recommended accommodation including Youth hostels which i usually aim for but tend to take such a long time to find due to lack of directions or user friendly directions.
    Just stop along the freeway, check in and move in and then next day drive into town for the sights!
