Hello, I am looking for a hotel/gasthaus in the center of Eupen. I know of the Best Western Hotel Boston but, I am looking for a reasonably priced location near the center. I will be traveling in September. Thank you in advance, Charlesracine

As you maybe know "chocolate" is like an art in Belgium and in this museum you'll find about the history of chocolate.
It's closed Sundays, holidays and in July.

Eupen is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Liège, 15 km from the German border (Aachen), from the Dutch border (Maastricht) and from the nature reservation the Ardennes. The town is also the capital of the Euroregion Meuse-Rhine. In January 2006 Eupen had a total population of 18,248 (8,892 males and 9,356 females). The total German speeking area in Belgium is possibly 60,000 people.
After the end of the First World War, the Treaty of Versailles placed Eupen and the neighboring municipality of Malmedy from 1920 to 1925 under Belgian administration. The region was eventually subject to a plebiscite to determine whether the region would be permanently separated from Germany and annexed to Belgium. However, the vote was not secret, since the ballots required the name and postal address of each voter. Fearing expulsion if they voted for Germany, the populations of Eupen and Malmedy voted to join Belgium.
Eupen is the capital of the Eastern Cantons, the German speaking area in the east of Belgium.
Yep, besides French and Dutch, there's a third national language in Belgium: German.
It's spoken in the Eastern Cantons by about 70.000 people. The district of Eupen (& Malmedy) had been temporarily annexed twice by Germany (1815 and 1940-44). That's the reason why some people in Belgium speaks German. But that's not known by many people....
But back to the city of Eupen:
Eupen has a population of about 17.000 people and lies in the Vesdre River Valley, near the German and Dutch border.
Eupen is a center for the manufacture of soap, cables, chocolate and of course beer !!!
The look of the city is defined by numerous houses (of rich cloth traders) built in the 17th and 18th century.
The main church (Saint Nicholas church) built 1721 is in Baroque style.
