The Mecure is situated in the city and is approx a five minute walk into the heart of the CBD. We stayed four days here whilst on business and enjoyed our stay. We were upgraded to a suite which was enormous. A large bedroom with king size bed, TV, wardrobes, dressing table and bedside tables and lamps. Next to the bedroom was a huge room which consisted on a large dining table with six chairs, lounge suite, coffee table, sideboard with mini bar and coffee and tea facilities. The bathroom was normal size but had an extra sink with mirror in an alcove. I highly recommend asking for this room, although we were upgraded it still cost the same as a normal standard room. The hotel is nothing flash but is very comfortable with all the modern facilities a business or traveler would need. There is laundry service and in-house menu and service. All rooms are equipped with colour TV, private bathroom, hairdryer, air-conditioning (which didn’t work very well) direct telephone with internet connection.(dial –up network). There is a private garage for those coming by car. On the ground floor is the brasserie “Le Bar a thyme” which serves meals, with a small coffee and bar attached. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and on arrival were welcomed with a speedy check in. I am glad we obtained the suite as the other rooms looked like normal standard rooms with little appeal.
The hotel is a taxi ride Euro 10.00 to the railway station. What to do and see: Saint Paul’s Cathedral, Church of Saint Bartholomew, Saint-Martin on Publemont Hill, Church of Saint Denis founded in 987. The Prince-Bishop’s Palace, The Perron and Market Square, The Ansemborough House and the Liege Province Public Museum. A trip down the River Meuse and a visit to the Aquarium.
