Which European spa would you suggest for a 30th birthday celebration?

by blythet

Please help...a group of us are trying to find a spa in Europe to send our friend for a long weekend. She is an American living in Switzerland and we wanted to do something special for her 30th birthday. Any advice on good places that are close enough to Switzerland that she won't have to spend too much time getting there, would be greatly appreciated!

Travel Tips for Spa

Racetrack food at Francorchamps

by groover101

During racing season the circuit almost always has some type of activity and the snack stands have very good food. Grab yourself a hotdog and frites and wash it down with a tall Jupiler beer. Francorchamps also has a hotel and cafe named "The Racing Hotel" I have never eaten here but have enjoyed many many beers. The cafe is actually in the small town of Francorchamp and has lots of history with racing teams.

Visit the sources outside of town

by Pavlik_NL

It sounds strange to put this tip in the "off the beaten path"-section, but it seems that almost no-one is visiting anymore the public wells that are situated in the forests around Spa. Though one would say that here in Spa this is all what it is about, one will be surprised in how desolate these wells are. In present days people come for exclusive treatments and relaxated baths, as well as the tourism around the Casino and a ride on the train that shows tourists the highlights of old Spa.
However, for who's intrested: at the tourist information they can give you a map with the route that takes you along four sources. So drive this quite difficult and winding road and don't forget to take enough bottles to store some of the healthy, but awfully tasting waters. Most of the sources give mineralrich cold waters. The sign of rost-redish stains in the waterbassin, prooves that almost all of them are rich in iron (ferrum).
