A great little gem

My wife and I wanted to go away for the Easter holidays. As she had been to Durbuy some 20 years ago and having really liked it, we decided to go there. It is a very small town, billed as the worlds'smallest town ( 450 inhabitants). We booked a room in the Hotel la Caleche.
It was absolutely marvellous. Even we ,as experienced travellers, found la Caleche a true gem. Don't expect great luxury, it is not the Hilton. But the staff are all very friendly, they try to speak different languages, they do their utmost to make your stay as agreeable as possible.
The food they serve is very good. The portions are ample. The local beer is very good. The environment is beautiful, take a walk along the river Ourthe you won't regret it.
Would we recommend it ? Is the pope German? Of course we would. Just go there soak up the atmosphere and enjoy yourself. You will get hooked. We will certainly be going back this year.

Unique Quality: No swimming pool, but they do have a great restaurant.
The view from your room is over the town square, which is nice
The bathroom is upstairs in your room, so be careful how much beer you drink.
The waiters are incredibly friendly, especially considering the long hours they make.
