Over the top security
I've passed this hotel many times but stayed for the first time in April 2008. We booked it because our usual hotel, and all others in Namur, were full.
The hotel itself was fine - rooms spacious though not luxurious. Breakfast was fine. The main difficulty was with all the hassle from security. It was difficult to find the parking.
The hotel is inside the Casino complex. Therefore to go into the hotel you have to be registered with the Casino and go through all the security. Heavy doormen directing you to long queues. Having to show ID such as passport often to get in the building - even though you are waving a room key at them.
They have a barcode sticker and coloured wristband system which helps once you have entered once that day, but you still get a load of uncessary hassle - just to get your room. We fund this intimidating and inconvenient. They insisted on taking a photocopy of our passports which we didn't like - for identity theft/data protection reasons - they insisted it was for the police and mandatory under Belgian law.
One day we had to get a receptionist to come and unlock the main door to let us out of the building - she would only leave it unlocked for a few minutes so we had to argue to let our colleage come down from his room (we were speaking to him on mobile phones and having to shout at her to leave the door unlocked) - we kept saying he is coming but got a load of bother.
I would stay elsewhere to avoid this security. If you do stay make sure you have all the papers they give you including the coloured paper wristband that they insist you wear (in the shower!) and your id readily available (necessary in Belgium anyway).
Unique Quality: Casino. River. Citadel.

The breakfast...
The breakfast at the hotel was a disappointment.
What I mean by that?
I think breakfast is the perfect way to promote
a country a little bit. Now I'm fond of that special
full flavour bread you can get in the Ardennes.
And they also got these smoked hams and
hams of wild boar....
It is not that there wasn't anything to choose
from. Some charcuterie (meat and cheese) ,
coffee tea ....nothing worth mensioning.
The cook had opened some cans of fruit
and instead of bacon and eggs he opened
a big can with those filthy 'zwan' sausages.
If it wasn't for free , I wouldn't go back
the second morning.
On top of that they stick such a message
up your nose... is that maybe the outdated
opinion that all the people from the Netherlands
are stingy and don't care for good food anyway?
I don't know?

A fantastic location.
It was a last minute decision to go to Namur.
We found a deal at the net. Two nights ,
breakfast for two and one buffet dinner at
the casino club and acces to the casino
for 180 Euro.
(everybody gets acces to the casino after
registration and the buffet normal price 12,30E)
Not a bad deal. But not really a promotion either.
It is a 3 star hotel...and I was told not to expect
too much. But the hotel was quit ok. The rooms
spacious and you got a vieuw over the water
or on the citadel at the back. It was very clean
but all a bit outdated.
Very surprizing was the fact that they spoke
their languages at the incheck desk.
EVEN DUTCH. But we soon found out why that
is. The hotel is very popular with people
from the Netherlands.
Unique Quality:
It's location.
In ten minutes you can walk to the city center...
Even the train station at the other side of town
is still within reach for those with a fit body.
And you at the foot of the citadel.

AT BEAUREGARD.....
Isn't this a wonderful place??
A *** hotel situated at the foot of the CITADEL on the edge of River MEUSE (MAAS).
Other pro's: within 10 minutes you can reach the City centre of Namur......
There are 47 rooms, all with a view on the RIVER MEUSE and THE CITADEL!
Needless to say that you will find here everything you could possibly need during your stay!
Unique Quality: The situation the the river bank at the foot of the citadel!
