My criteria this trip were: cheap, close to station and with wifi. The Billard Palace ticked these three for me.
My single room was small and basically-furnished, but immaculately clean and everything worked including the wifi. The only contact I had with the staff were when checking in and out, both of which were hassle-free.
The location was ideal for my overnight stay, quite literally just across the square from the main railway station and easy to locate being above the bright frontage of the "Quick" restaurant. The immediate area isn't central for most tourist attractions, although it is across from the zoo and next door to the aquarium and Antwerp's Chinatown. There are plenty of lively bars and restaurants too, along with convenience stores, and so if just passing through you don't have to search far for the essentials.
The hotel doesn't offer breakfast in-house but does have an agreement with the local Panos fast-food place, on the corner next to the Chinatown gateway, which for 5 euros was excellent value for money - they'll give you a voucher card at reception and you pay at the restaurant.
Nothing particular to write home about but no complaints whatsoever either.
Directions: On the main square beside Antwerpen Central Station, above the Quick restaurant.
i was here again during the meeting on August 18th. 2012, horrible.

When Caroline (B-Caro) and i had to stay overnight we choose this hotel on the internet.
What we didnt know is that the hotel was renovated at that time.
On the picture Tom (Tompt) checking the lights :-) When we came to the 4th. floor a big surprise was waiting, the electricity went out....a strong smell of paint ammonia !
but the beds were ok.
Unique Quality: bad, bad, bad
The hotel is very close to the central station. It has a famous Billiard- and Snookerhall and exists over 30 years. That is what you can see immediately. There was a huge restoration going on the time Carin and Caroline stayed there. We went up to their room and found a hallway with no carpet, lights going on and off in the hallway, and electricity wires hanging out of the wall. The entire floor was smelling like they painted it already. When they opened the balcony doors the view was a buildingsite at the Koningin Astridplein. Luckely for them it was weekend and they probably wouldn´t wake up with the noise of builders on a sundaymorning.
Directions: Just two minutes from the central station.
