Hotel Florida

Hotel Florida is just on the corner by Antwerp Central Station. The hotel has a good welcoming reception-lounge, our room was small and very simple but clean. They serve a pretty good continental breakfast. The location is ideal to get around the Zoo and the Diamant Museum, it is about 15 minutes walking to the main square, just go straight on the main avenue and spend your time looking around the windows shops

On a friday morning we went to Antwerp by train, the hotel should be within walking distance of the station according to the hotel website.

We stepped out of the train station opposite of the Zoo exit and.....we saw the hotel about 100 meter from the station so that was great no long walks and looking for the hotel.

We checked in early and had a room in the new part of the hotel. Unfortunalty this was one of the few rooms in the new part which had no airco. The room was very hot, so we asked for a room with an airco and got it. This was much more comfortable..

If you like airco ask for it when you reserve !

Unique Quality: The location is really in the heart of Antwerp, close to the zoo, trainstation and city center.

The rooms are ok, only the light fixtures in the entrance and restroom are strange. Those are outdoor fixtures with a motion sensor, energy saving but not really attractive.

There's a tv with a lot of channels as well as the dutch public tv channels. There's one chair and a little desk. There's also a small refigerator in the room.

The bathroom has a bath with a soap dispenser. There was a standing lamp in our room which had a live of it's own which we pulled the plug on because it went on in the middle of the night.

Breakfast buffet is included which you can eat indoor and outdoor at the hotel, it's a good buffet.

At the reception is a bar and also a pc with free internet acces.

The hotel all in all was good, keeping the great location in mind. Their energy saving goes a little over the top, during day time the lights in the hallway are out, making it very dark at the doors of the last few rooms.

The staff was very friendly and helpfull.

Directions: Go to the Antwerp central trainstation or the Antwerp zoo. The hotel is opposite to the zoo at the other side of the train station.

I stayed two nights and got one of their best room (it had a balcony!). The staff is friendly, the breakfast buffet is really good and prices are pretty low. However, I was a host at the university so I may have got a special rate.

Unique Quality: Cheap, 50 m from the Berchem station, near lots of restaurants and bars.

Florida Hotel was the only hotel so far mentioned on the list of small business groups giving out reduction in exchange of free promotion.
So when the Macdoggie's arrived and another hotel I had in mind was fully booked, this was the first one we went to check out.

Unique Quality: We handed the friendly personal at the reception desk our printed out VT-coupon.
The hotel looks ok and you have several prices depending you take the new or the renovated rooms (from 80 euro going up).
With the reduction due to the VT agreement, the price of 80 euro was reduced to a very interesting price!
