Hi,
Could I possibly ask about the direction of how to get from centraal station to Cathedral?
Any metro map/line information?
I tried to visit delijn.be but they are all in Dutch so I didn't manage to get any useful info from there...
And secondly, what is the area of interest that I could visit during my Antwerp trip?
I only have a day there, is it enough?
Thanks for replies.
We had one day in Antwerp and it was enough for a taster - there are quite a few things we'd like to go back to visit. We walked from the train station to the Cathedral, and also back again. There are also buses; however, it's not a long walk. We took a walking tour of Antwerp from the Tourist Information Centre - it was excellent.
You can indeed walk from Centraal to the Cathedral (and see some of Antwerpen). Alternatively head for the Metro station and take any vehicle in the direction of "Linkeroever", and get out at the "Groenplaats" stop.
Hey all,
Thanks for all the replies.
Right now I have a pretty good idea of where to visit during my stay there!
Thanks!
Hi hi,
dont know if you still need this information:
From central station you take the metro nr 15 or 2 with direction LINKEROEVER
Just follow the arrows 15 LINKEROEVER or 2 LINKEROEVER
Once your in 1 of these, you get off at the 3rd stop called GROENPLAATS
And thats where youll find the Cathedral
A ticket costs 1.20EUR per person
Hey,
Thanks for the help although I had come back from Antwerp like 2 months ago, but am really appreciate it :)
hehe your welcome
hope you enjoyed yourself

For centuries, diamonds have been one of the main revenue sources for Antwerp and, today, it is reputed as the world's main diamond trading centre: more than 80 % of the world rough diamonds and nearly 50 % of the polished diamonds are traded here every day. The trade is centred in the Diamond Bourses, of which the Beurs voor Diamanthandel is the largest and most important with more than 1 500 members.
The diamond district in Antwerp is located near the railway station, where you can find a multitude of small jewellery stores and cutting factories owned mostly by the Jewish community.
A controversial trade, no doubt, but a significant aspect of the city that attracts a non negligible number of visitors to the city.
Going to the Zoo in Antwerp when I was a kid and seeing the flamingoes. The Zoo is right next to the main railway station, which in itself is one of the most impressive architectural realizations I have ever seen. And the station has been restored to its original state in the past few years. Definitely worth having a look.
wear a good pair of walking shoes. The best way to get around this town is to do it the traditional way - to walk! Drop by the Tourist Information Office (Grote Markt 15). You can get lots of information about Antwerpen's sights, events, cultural activities, and restaurants. Don't forget to buy a box of to-die-for pralines from Leonidas.
The herb garden on the Leopold Street is also a nice place to see, as long the weather is fine. I thought I had more pictures of this place of my former visits, but cannot find them now. Maybe they show up again later. This picture I made when I took a visit there on 9 May 2002. From left to right, you see Elle, irisbe (Danielle) and Lalique (Marianna).

A: "I fully agree with above reply. You must feel the atmosphere of Antwerp. The Groenplaats and the Grote Markt are the two squares you should see. PJ"
