My Fave Business Hotel
Ibis is always one of my first choices when it comes down to chain hotels. Ibis Antwerpen Centrum offers a great discount deal for 59 EUR/Night for early bookings. The rooms are basic (no fridge and hair-dryer) but clean, modern and comfortable. Great location, half way between the Central Station and the Grote Markt, just 10 mins walk to either way. On Sats and Suns, there's a huge weekend market right in front of the hotel.

Basic but decent hotel
We booked our trip late, so we didn't have the best choices of hotels, but this was a good choice for being a chain that you can expect decent service and amenities from, and having a good location fairly close to the center. The breakfast was decent, but I would not pay the 9.90 eur they asked for if it wasn't included in what you'd paid for your room (I'd go to one of the nice cafes that was down the street towards the Meir). We had a fine stay, we didn't have very high expectations, so we weren't disappointed. The price we paid I feel was a bit much, but like I said, we were booking late for a holiday weekend.

The Ibis Hotel,a really nice place to stay
My stay at the Ibis in Antwerp.
For a standard room the current cost is 82 Euros per night (May 05)
NB-When booking breakfast IS NOT included and must be requested on arrival current cost is 9 Euros per breakfast.
You are given breakfast token cards which you simply hand to a hotel staff member and quote your room number when you come down for breakfast in the morning.
On arrival I was greeted by a very lovely young blonde girl from The Netherlands at reception.
The room was compact yet well kept,clean and fresh,and had the usual TV,shower,WC,phone,double bed etc,But No Tea or Coffee making in the room?.
The view from my room was right across the open square,you could watch the whole world pass by from the top floor.
For those of us who only do English as a language never fear,the hotel staff,and it would seem most of Belgium speak wonderful English,plus the TV caters for a varied audience with BBC,CNN plus Dutch,German,French etc etc.
Breakfast is an all you can eat buffet with the usual varied cereals,bread,tea,coffee,juice,cheese,yogurt etc,all the things one expects from a continental style menu.
The hotel has internet access via a computer near reception,you may access the internet there,currently it is 5 euros for 15 minutes,you get a little card with an access number on it from reception,punch in the number and your set for 15 minutes.
NB
If I was to say anything negative it would be that smoking appeared to be permitted in certain areas of the hotel most noticeable in reception, where,if someone was smoking you had little choice but to choke on their fumes,so non smokers take note.
I myself was on the 3rd floor and it was designated NO SMOKING,yet I did smell the tell tale signs of someone having had a quick ciggy from another room.
But if you didn't spend time hanging around reception the smoking issue is largely academic.
Unique Quality: Great reception young ladies.
I had the pleasure of meeting 3 of them,they all new their jobs, were really nice,and had super English.
Good TV
Plenty of food available 24hrs from Hotel kitchen.

close to everything
A good hotel, but watch out when booking on the internet. We booked two nights and when we arrived we were in their system for 21 nights! And they presumed we were from Japan because Toms last (real frysian, dutch)name sounded japanese to them.
It was all sorted out very quickly, and we got a room on the fourth floor looking over the marketsquare.
Unique Quality: The IBIS hotel Antwerpen centrum is very conveniently placed. It is in the Meistraat near the Stadsschouwburg. You can park your car in the parkinggarage at the other side of the street. There is a market on weekends right across the road. The shopping street the Meir is in walking distance (5 minutes). In fact all the highlights can be easily reached on foot.
Our verdict:
Although its location is great, the rooms are a little bit too small to our taste. The price is high according to quality. There are many cheaper hotels with more spacious rooms.

Near the City Theater
single room = 70 Euro per night, 5 euro extra for a second sleeper, 8euro extra if you want breakfast

If you sleep at the outer side, this is the side of the big square in front of the theater, it can be noisy early in the morning on saturday and sunday because of the market people setting up their stalls.
