    Classy hotel near the park

    by

We stayed at this hotel during last years "10 year Antwerp anniversary meet" and it was a very good choice for us as it included a private, secure underground car park ..

We liked our rooom a lot and could not fault the hotel for cleanliness nor attention to detail, the check in/out staff were efficient and super polite and when we explained to the maid we didnt need housekeeping she was perfecly accommodating and noted it down...there was free water in our room and nibbles as well as a fully stocked mini bar (at extra cost so we did
    not indulge)

The hotel is situated right next to the park and our room had superb views of the park and surrounding areas....the walk into town is easy and there is a bus stop at one end of the road and several tram stops at the other end if you prefer.

We had a special deal from Booking.com or we would not have been really happy to pay the prices for this hotel as it costs a bit more than usual...but to be honest if you want a weekend away in seriously nice surroundings its probably worth it...we would be more then happy to go back..especaiily if we got another good deal!

Unique Quality: Right next to the park and not far to town

THE ONLY FIVE STAR HOTEL IN ANTWERP!

    by

    'Bill Clinton' recently stayed here
while visiting Antwerp for a speech. He was
invited by the high diamond council.
    Whatever.

This hotel is known to be the best in the city.
After a sleepless night I called the hotel if it
was possible to have breakfast there not
being a hotel guest. (we live a few streets
away) Of course that was possible. The price
was over 22 euro but it was perfect. Fresh
vegetables , a large choise in bread , juices ,
champagne , fruit , smoked salmon... (it is
cheaper when you are a guest...)
    The service was immaculate.

Unique Quality: The hotel name tells it : it is located
aside the 'stadspark' - the city parc. Don't
believe the stories you hear about this parc.
During daytime it is a vivid parc visited by the
    international communities that give Antwerp
    their special cosmopolitan atmosphere.
During nightime the parc is in genereal
    visited by gay men.

Don't think that it is a quiet lane , the Van
Eyklei isn't exactly quiet. Also all the nice
architecture that once was located with a
view over the parc is gone. Apartments make
more money then those nice historic houses.

I liked my breakfast at the hotel , but for my
concern the hotel it misses some character.

    'Location':If you check the website
you'll see that in general business people
use the hotel that wont have to pay for the bill
themselves. They also take a taxi. :-) There is
no tram stopping in front of the hotel. You will
have to do a little walk. Most vivid nearby is
the saturday and Sunday market on
the 'vaartplaats'. Anyway it is still in the center
but not a top location if you ask me.

5 Star Luxury - But Where's The Gym?

    by

One of only two 5 star hotels in Antwerp, the other being the Hilton. It more or less lived up to expectations, the quality of the rooms, facilities and services being really first class.
Our only grumble (and it was a big grumble) was that the liesure facilities werre closed for 5 of the 6 days we were there, for refurbishment.
One of the prime reasons we picked this hotel was for its gym & pool etc. and really, without those facilities we'd have rather saved some money and stayed at the Ibis :-S

Unique Quality: Everything you'd expect from a 5 star hotel - lovely room, great meals, great service, full range of facilities...
(oh, and the most explicit hard-core porn on the in-house movie channels! Be sure to not let your kids near the remote for the TV).
The rack rate price for this hotel was 280 euro per night, but we got it for 120 with www.totalstay.com

Directions: Adjacent to the City park. 10 minutes from the central station and 15 to 20 minutes from the city centre.
