From Shoemakers Square
Hi, I am looking for a clean, nice room in a quiet area in Antwerpen where I will be studying in July. Then I am going to Leuven in August. Has anyone ideas, knows of someone who rents s.th.?
Tks.
Hello May,
So far, this is what I came up with. I hope this link will help. I have no personal experience with it, I just found it in the internet.

as for antwerp you might inform at http://www.kotspotting.be/
normally it is for students but as you come to study :)
depending on where you are studying at (institute) they too might help you to provide lodgement.

visit the Groenplaats, here stands the statue of P.P.Rubens and you'll also have a nice view of the Cathedral while you are sitting at one of the bars who are located here... When I'm away from Antwerp I miss the city feeling... I'm always glad if I come somewhere where there are lot's of things to go or to do....
Peter Paul Rubens is probably Belgiums best known painter. He was born in Germany in 1577 of Belgian parents. After his father died, Rubens moved back to Antwerp. That's where he developed his painting skills. He died in 1600 at the age of 64. You can see paintings in most museums in Antwerp. But of course the must see is the Rubenshouse. There are also some great paintings in several churches like the Church of Our Dear Lady. Behind that churh, on the Groenplaats, there is a statue of him.
Unfortunately, the GUILD HOUSES are not all original. In 1576 a large part of the Grote Markt burned down. Hans Vredeman, the town architect was instrumental in rebuilding these magnificent houses, in Flemish Renaissance style.
Take the bus 25 at the Groenplaats and let you drive to one of the most extra ordinary cemeteries in Belgium, in Hoboken, called Schoonselhof.
I think it is worthwhile visiting this site where a lot of famous Flemish people,
writers, painters, politicians are burried.
There is a war cemetary as well.
And a part of the cemetary was reservated for Jewish as they never move the
dead and the graves are for ever.
But all together, it is a nice park to walk through even if it is a cemetary.

Q: Stopping for a couple of hours(Train from Brugges connecting to Amsterdam) "Hi, Never been in Antwerp and will be connecting there and was wondering if is worth it to spend two hours or maybe more before..."
A: "I fully agree with above reply. You must feel the atmosphere of Antwerp. The Groenplaats and the Grote Markt are the two squares you should see. PJ"
