Hotel Restaurant Alauda: Phenomenal Restaurant

I stayed here for one night as it was the closest I could get to Mol, at a reasonable price. The accommodation was clean, neat and basic. Very quiet. Good comfortable bed, nice bathroom, TV with Belgian and Dutch channels. No coffee making facilities, but a fine room. Good size.
The restaurant was magnficent and the staff superb and VERY friendly.
It's a kind of gastronomic restaurant and the dinner was a tasting menu with supposedly five courses, but in fact 6, as there was a plate of amuses bouches for starters.
The food was adventurous and nearly all sublime. I loved it.
I remember a tiny kind of sausage roll in gorgeous sauce, a tiny deepfried sliver of fish in another fab sauce, pumpkin soup (not gone on that), fantastic chestnut and bacon soup, a terrire of smoked duck mango and pineapple, cod on a bed of seafood risotto with a mustard sauce and slices of beef fillet with another fantastic sauce.
The breakfast was also excellent. Great coffee, an omlette, ham, cheese, gorgeous bread baked in the hotel, all kinds of jam etc.
