We stayed in this hotel two times. First in 2005 when Tom was going to cycle in the nearby Kapelle op den Bos. Then it was only a two day stay, but we liked it. The rooms are not very large, but large enough. The bathroom was good and clean. And breakfast, which was included, was good. There were rolls and other bread, yoghurt and cerials.
The second time was a year later at Whitsuntide. Tom was again going for the cycletour, but we had a long weekend and stayed on to discover some more of Mechelen.
This time we had another room on the ground floor but it was equaly good.
The only downside this vist was the broken carwindow of a fellow guest. At night some thieve(s) thought they had to smash his window to get to some stuff inside the car. This happened on the parkinglot of the hotel.
Unique Quality: The hotel is located in a 15th century brewery called Het Anker. There is also a bar and restaurant on the grounds of the brewery.
The beers of the brewery include the famous Gouden Anker.
It is close to the highway, but also only a 7 minutes walk from the centre of Mechelen.
The hotel has 22 rooms.
Nice hotel with a special ambiance and a good price / quality rate. Something we would book again.
Directions: From highway E19 Brussel-Antwerpen take exit Mechelen. At the 2nd traffic lights right. First turn left cross the road and the hotel is in front of you.
