Hasselt to Brussels quickly?

by keithodub

Hi, i will be in Hasselt (Prins Bisschopssingel 34/2 3500 Hasselt to be exact), and will need to get to Brussels (ace du Roi Vainqueur,15 Bruxelles Belguim 1040) as quickly as possible because two different appointments i have are a bit close together and cannot now be moved!
Can somebody tell me the best possible way to make this journey in a short time. I do not have a car and would rather not spend a fortune on a taxi although for parts of the journey at either end i don't mind.
I can be finished at Hasselt address by 12.30pm but need to be in Brussels address by 2.25pm latest! Is this possible??? Many thanks in advance for your information and advice.
Thank you.

I assume your destination should be: Etterbeek, Place du Roi Vainqueur 15.

You can search for connections here: http://www.b-rail.be/main/E/ - select "Adres" from drop down menu.

Direct trains Hasselt>Brussels take around 1h 15m.

If you can catch the 12:31 you'll be at Brussels Centraal station by 13:49

If you have to catch the 13:11 it will be 14:26 before you arrive.

Leaving the first meeting abit early and getting a taxi to the station for the 12:31 train seems the best idea.

www.viamichelin.com suggests a drive time of around an hour, address to address. If you do decide to hire a car, viamichelin will give you route and info.

Have been contemplating best approach to this and i think if i catch the later train and ring ahead to my 2nd appointment to say i'm 10mins late would be a lesser sin than finishing the 1st appointment too early!
But can you advise on the taxi time to Hasselt station from my address there, and also at the other end, which station should i be getting off at (do i have a choice on this service?) and the approx taxi time to my req'd address in Brussels from whichever train station i've to use??
Thanks again for your responses.

I don't think you will have a choice of stations, but if you find the same train on the bahn.de site:

http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en

and then click the grey arrow to the left, you will see all the stations at which that train stops. Bahn.de lists times and details for almost all European trains.

As for how long, I'm afraid I simply do not know...I can only suggest you put each address into google maps and then check where they are in relation to Hasselt station and Brussels Centraal.

The first looks to be around 2.5km from the station, the second perhaps 6+ km. It might be quicker to take the Metro in Brussels to station Thieffry (both line 1A) and walk from there, rather than risk city traffic, but I'm afraid I don't know Brussels well enough to say for certain.

Sorry I can't be more helpful.

Thanks for your efforts. I may have to bite the bullet and go for car hire i think. Too much room for problems via public transport. I've never driven a Left hand drive is the problem!. I'll allow myself plenty of time en route to Hasselt and hopefully I'll be ok after that.
Cheers.

My sympathies.....the reason I haven't driven abroad yet is that I don't fancy driving on the wrong side (and navigating) by myself.

Try to get a car with a GPS system. and use viamichelin to print out maps etc before you leave home.

Am sure you'll be fine, but good luck anyway! :-)

At the big market we had an other coffee stop, this time on a warmed terasse always fun to sit outside on a cold winter Sunday morning.
People where bussy cleaning the Christmas tree, fortunately the crib was still on the market so I got make a picture of the beautiful statues.

Borrel manneke (dram manikin)

This fountain symbolizes the economical cycle of the gin industry. The pulp of the distilled grain was given to the pigs and cows. The animal's manure was used to better the grain fields. Better ground, more grain, more raw materials for the gin industry and more food for the animals.
Once a year, during the gin festivities in October, real gin is coming out of the fountain.

Jesus ??

by Martin_S.

Okay you tell me, is this an actor portraying Jesus or what...we saw this guy all dressed up with no camera crew, so it was not a film, with no photographers, so it was not a fashion show or photo shoot, no other "characters", so it was not a cult gathering.....and even stranger was that while people would glance at him you could not really say anyone was paying him any direct attention...REAL strange.
