Info please?

by maria.maria

I am soon to be moving to Hasselt from Cheyenne, Wyoming USA and if there is any very important information I need to know before moving or just some helpful hints to make my move smoother, I would appreciate it.

in what way?
Hasselt is a nice little city, many shops, liquer (jenever) museum, clothing museum and a very nice Japanese garden not so far from an indoor swimmingpool.
you can look up some things on this VT website if you search on "hasselt".

Take it easy with the Belgian beer, it's strong :-) Hasselt is a nice quite town that is small by international standard but large-ish for Belgium. Feel free to ask more specific questions if you have them!
Welcome to Belgium!

Nice little detail: in Hasselt the public transport (bus) is free!!!!

Hi,

Hasselt is the capital city of the province of Limburg.
It is a nice city, with lots of things to do and see.
There is nothing special you should take keep in mind.
Will be different from the US, but i think that is the interesting part about moving to other parts of the world.
I live about 20minutes from the city of Hasselt, but go there almost every day (work).
So if you have any questions, let me know.
And yes the transport is free, but it is better to walk.
People who used to walk a lot, now take the bus.

be welcome Marie
have you already checked the official website as well?

http://www.hasselt.be

isn't Hasselt also famous for its speculoos?
and and like you can have French coffee or Irish coffee (coffee with liquer) we here have Hasseltse.

Elke !
you know you now have to arrange a meeting there `-)

Re: Re: Info please?

well I always forget when the jenever festival is.
if you keep an eye on it and warn the vt-ers in time
we might go and meet up in Hasselt with a good jenever `-)
or you can join some spontaneously organised vt meetings.
(they are mostly announced in the vt meeting calendar or there will mostly be additional something in the forum)
