Just a corner away from the Marketsquare into an alley, one comes long a wonderful shaped old house. The stories are actually built outwards to dreate little bit more room on the first and the second level (ground was payed for and there were no rules yet about building outwards above the ground then).
This building used to be the inn of Diest and ... guess what ... it still is! Now-a-days as a hotel-pension and still sheltering travellers with a room and a meal. Now, if that is not staying within history, then I don't know anymore what is!
Almost next to the Sint Sulpitius-church one finds the old "Proosdij". A "Prrost" was a highranking city-official in medieval times and - according to this position - he was living in quite a large and wonderful house (as you see, sometimes almost a castle).
