Bread with soft white cheese and radish
After a long walk in the Zoniën Forest or some biking, it is very common eating bread with soft white cheese and radish in one of the pubs along the forest side in Jezus-Eik (Notre Dame au Bois) with a local cherish beer (Kriek beer) Rather refreshing !

The trip starts on the Hengstenberg near the E411 motorway. It is possible to rent bikes at the Groenendaal train station if you come by train.
The Justus Lipsius Walk
This is a 9 km walking path through the lovely village center along the most important buildings and then further on through the surrounding fields, leading you in and around the IJse-valley, which gave its name to Overijse. If you're a nature-lover, this is a must-do. If the weather has been rough with heavy rain, you may need boots or good hiking shoes as some smaller parts of the path through the fields may be a little marshy.
And what about winter wonderland ?
Zoniën forest is an ideal place for hiking, biking and horseriding all year long. There are even separated paths for each of those sports,
There are many well indicated lanes which lead you throughout the Forest on the territory of Overijse, Hoeilaart, Tervuren, St. Genesius Rode (Rhode St. Genèse), Watermaal-Bosvoorde (Watermael-Boitsfort)
If you feel like getting lost, buy yourself a Zoniën Forest map in a good library and there you go..
