Time to kill in the airport?
You could have a couple of hours to kill in the airport. That's maybe not enough to go to the center of Brussels but still, enough to get bored inside the airport!! Why not discovering the small town of Zaventem?
You could have a good lunch in one of the many restaurants or taste a good belgian beers in one of the local pubs... That could already give you a small idea of Belgium if you are only in transit ;-)
"Going for a coffee"
When you travel by plane, you know you have to come early...well no problemo. But first a coffee and a croissant. The guys were quicker then us girls, cause we had to sneek into the shops. If you dont have enough spirit to fly dont worry, there are several bars aswell.
"Shops and more"
There are many shop even at the public area. Forgot to pack something, no problem. You will find it at the airport. Maybe a gift for the friends you are going to visit...there is plenty of choise. There are more the 60.000 products in the shops at the airport. You will find most of the wellknown brands as well as some typically Belgian specialities.
"Camera's and things you forgot?"
If tiy travek within the European Union shopping at the airport is also ver attractive. But if you fly outside the European Union you can eat you heart out. Remember you cant bring what ever you want, there are some things you cant bring into an other country (quote the travellist:) firearms, counterfeit articles, drugs, protected animals or plantss and products made thereof.
"The plane is already waiting"
Cause we were flying from Belgium we went with Sobelair (a compagny already excisting more then 50 years and i had never heard about it). If you like to know more you can find it at www.sobelair.be
When we booked the trip they said we would be flying in a new aircraft from Thomas Cook...and that it was a non-stop flight....The plane wasnt new and we had a stop in Holguin, Cuba. Besides that the flight was alright.
"In the plane"
As usual on long flights you get some movies and little films to keep you busy. With this flight we only got one small film about ??? (really cant remember) and a movie, which started when we were almost there. I think they have to change that, cause it seemd like we were flying for ever.
"In the middle of..."
See this little screens, i always get a little fed up with these. Cause when they dont have a movie they show you where you are. Most of the time its above the sea when you fly from Europe to the Caribbean. They also show you how far you are still away, local time and things like that. But like you tellie at home you watch even when you dont wanna, and that makes it that the flight is going soooooooo slooooow.
Important for any flight is the food you get. Because we flew something like star class (not really but if was just a little extra money for more room for the legs and better food) we could make a choise. As you can see its not so bad what we got. Its a pity thought, that its hard for ANY compagnie to listen to the traveller. I am allergic to fish and tell this months before we travel. But everytime they forgot about it and there are fishies on my plate....thats a bugger for me but alright for Frans cause he got two meals that way !
I think people that can have a nap or even really sleep the whole way are so lucky. I am not very keen of flying (hate the landing) i always seems to keep my ears wide open. Its even worse when a plane doesnt show a movie on board and make sure that there is some other entertainment. I had just 1 newspaper and a magazine, so before we hit Ireland i already was looking forward of being on Mexican ground. Frans slept most of the time....maybe he is working harder at his job then i have to do at mine?
