More about Albion Hotel
We have stayed at The Albion Hotel three times now and on every occassion we have been warmly greeted and helped with whatever we needed to ask about. The rooms are pleasant and warm and the buffet breakfast gave a good choice.
The hotel is well located being just a few minutes walk from the main square.
Albion Hotel - cosiness and warmth.
I've been many times in different hotels in Ieper and I can definitely say, that Albion Hotel is my favorite! I'm not talking about the number of stars and other classifications. I'm talking about the way that I feel there. The warm attitude, the fresh flowers everywhere, the clean, cosy and tidy rooms, the plentiful breakfast and many other things make the stay there a real pleasure!
Friendly staff, great location and nice hotel
Having just returned from two nights in Ypres at the Albion Hotel I only have positive comments to make about the hotel and general area. Given its position it is a great place to explore the surrounding area. The architecture around Ypres is fantastic ( except for one hotel in the same street that looks to modern and is not in keeping).
If you do not have a car or you want more detailed information I would suggest going on one of the organised tours. The hotel staff were very helpful, on arrival providing various leaflets of things to do and a map of the area.
The hotel itself was very well presented.
You even get your own alarm clock. The church across the road starts its chimes at 7.00am which is the perfect time to be getting up for breakfast.
What a gem
Close to everything right in the town centre, with staff who will take the time to make sure you're happy with everything. Large, airy rooms, and a good continental breakfast.
What more can you ask for? Not a lot. Fully deserves its 5 out of 5.
Absolutely perfect, we are going back soon.
We have just returned from Ypres after having a great time at the 'Cat' festival, we were dubious of booking online, but absolutely delighted with the hotel. It was clean and gave the impression of being superior in everything from the decor to the china etc.
The owner was very helpful and knowledgeable and helped us with directions to the most interesting sites of a beautiful area.
The hotel is just off the town square so is handy for many events and parking is easy.
We will be returning soon and will look no further than the 'Albion'.
Friendly but dissappointing
We had planned on staying two nights but decided to stay elsewhere after the first one.
The hotel is well located for the centre, on an attractive street in a nice building. Inside, everything is clean and in good condition. Rooms are a good size. It's quite plain, not a lot of character, but it has everything you need. The service was friendly, welcoming and helpful. Nothing to complain about there.
Our complaint was the noise. Our room looked out over a street which was quite noisy (cars on cobbles) and the window was only single glazed so the traffic noise was pretty bad. Woke us up at 5am as the town woke up - and we couldn't get back to sleep. Not that we got much sleep anyway - the partition to the next room was like tissue paper. Not only could we hear the person next door snoring - we could actually hear him breathing!
Bleary eyed, we checked out the next morning and headed for B&B Hortensia instead. Same quality of accommodation but with more character, much quieter, for EUR40 less! I think that you will get much better value for money in and around Ieper in one of the many lovely B&Bs, instead of a hotel.
Stay nowhere else in Ypres, Warm, friendly, delightful
We travelled to Ypres on our honeymoon because we share a deep interest in the history of Australia in WW1. We stumbled upon the Albion Hotel - how lucky we were. We stayed 5 nights in Ypres. The Albion hotel is an absolute pleasure to come home to. Warm, frindly owners and staff. Rooms are excellent - and generous. Situated so close to everything. They were able to organise (after hours) an excellent indepth tour of the local batlefields, fantastic service when time was at a premium. Nothing was a problem and in the evening it was wonderful to spend a little time with the owners chatting about thier town and it's history over a drink in the lounge. There is a wonderful feel to the Albion - from the soft music to the fine china. Don't stay anywhere else in Ypres. You won't be disappointed. We'll be back!
Home from Home
This was our second visit to Ypres and our first visit to the Albion Hotel. We have travelled all over Europe as a party of four and we usually have different views and opinions about the Hotels that we use. However, on this occassion we were all four in unison that the Albion Hotel was without a doubt in the top bracket. It was very clean and airy. We all had the feeling that we were more than welcome guests, as the ambience was friendly and helpful. Our host, Christiane was more than helpful in taking care of our needs, and she went out of her way to facilitate my disabled wife's access to the hotel by allowing me to use the car park at the rear of the Hotel. We were also very pleased with the location of the Hotel. It is no more than a ten minute stroll to the main square, and also to the famous Menim Gate. This will now be our first choice Hotel for our next visit to this beautiful city
We were delightfully surpised by the exceptional value offered by the Albion Hotel. After a few days in wet, mucky battlefields it was a bit of a sanctuary. Our room was large and overlooked the city, with a large ensuite. Everything was new and impeccably clean, and you can tell that the owners take a great deal of pride in their hotel. We received a warm welcome with helpful tips on local restaurants, bookstores and historic sites. The lounge and breakfast area is charming with many books on the region to leaf through over coffee. This will be the first hotel we book when we return to the area.
This is a wonderful Hotel, professionally, yet amiably run. The interior is pristine clean, welcoming and of an exceptionally high standard. The Proprietress is very friendly, effecient and very helpful, as indeed were all the staff. The room was also of a very high standard, comfortable and air conditioned, which in extremely hot weather made it a pleasure to be in. The food was of a very high standard, well presented and in beautiful surroundings. My wife and I slept very very well and did not find the traffic noise obtrusive at all. We will stay there every time we visit Ypres and will recommend it unreservedly to friends and to everyone who visits Ypres. You will not find a better hotel in Europe!
