It is situated in a quiet street leading to the Minne Water; at the other end of the street the road leads straight down to the Markt passing many historic sites en the way. In both directions there is a very good choice of restaurants, a small Carrefour supermarket- great for prepared salads and sandwich snacks, and excellent patisseries and bakeries - which we tried hard to avoid!
Our room on the first floor (served by a new lift) was quite spacious, very well equipped with a nice bathroon. It overlooked an inner courtyard so was very quiet.
Free wifi was available throughout the reception/lounge area with one PC for guests use in the salon. I had fun finding my way around the keyboard on that one!
An adequate self-service breakfast was served in the attractive dining room with a good selection of breads, fruit and continental and hot cooked food available.I particularly enjoyed the scrambled eggs with chopped smoked bacon.
The original hotel was formerly an old commercial building, restored and converted to an hotel in the 1980s. Since then, sympathetically refurbished and extended, it is now on several levels but corridors have little slopes rather than steps between different sections of the building.
It was a bit of a route march from the top of the stairs, or from the adjacent lift to our room (115) so could be difficult for anyone with mobility problems and advisable to ask for a ground floor room or one close to the lift.
We would certainly stay here again.
