My niece and I spent 5 nights in this lovely hostel this July. We stayed in a 6-bed-female dorm on the ground floor of the main building. We had 2 bunk beds, 2 beds, 2 washbasins, 2 open wardrobes, tables and some chairs in the room.
There were showers and toilets with washbasins close to our room.
Very tasty buffet breakfast was included: bread, salami, butter, chocolate cream, jam, juice, tea, milk, chocolate milk, cereal...
Directions: Close to Katelijne bridge over the canal, opposite the Q8 petrol station.
First of all I must say that the place is clean and the people is very kind. Our room was ok, it needed only half an hour of open window but it was clean. Toilets and showers were common for all the rooms at the floor, but they were very clean too. The water was hot and abundant. Everything was perfect for having rest after tiring sight seeing in bruges! There were also negative aspect in this hostel, like for example few guests and the location. The hostel is not in the centre, you can reach it in 20 min walking or in few minutes by bus though. When we arrived in Bruges we asked to some people and to a bus driver also but nobody knew about "Hostel Europe". So you'd better follow the indication you can find in its web-site, they're correct and easy:
bus 2 or bus 20:
Get off at the bus stop “Baron-Ruzettelaan” at 200 m from the hostel.
About the few guests, actually, it was a little sad to have breakfast surrounded by so many empty tables but in general we had a nice stay
We payed 17.50 including the "hostelling international" card, that you need to stay in this kind of hostels
A short walk from the railway station. Chean and cheap. Large central solcail are meets you as you enter. Bedrooms are spacious. It was relatively quiet when I was here. A good breakfast is included in the price.
Its close enough to the town centre to stroll to. i arrived late in theevening and found that the only eateries open was a fast food shop selling Belgium Frites or a small corner whop which was actually the front room of a house. Bizarre.
Stayed at the Europa - International Youth Hostel in Brugge. It was a decent place - just outside of the old town and with a grocery store nearby. They served breakfast - it was included with the price of the room, but I think that it costs extra now. The rooms were clean, and it was a nice walk to Old Brugge.
Unique Quality: This place has a bar and tv room a kitchen...but the best thing about it was the ping-pong (table tennis) tables outside.
In the dining room, someone who worked at the hostel was asking me about my time in Belgium and got annoyed when I told him I was going to France - he said, 'Oh, all you Americans don't come to see Belgium - it's just a stop on your way to Paris! There are many more areas to see than Brugge...and so on....' He was offended over that. He must have been inadequate or something. Most of the people I met in Belgium were great. There are grumps everywhere!
