GOOD HOTEL, GOOD LOCATION, GOOD VALUE
by TripAdvisor Member msgjoe
We stayed at Hotel Cordoeanier for two days and found it to be a very nice Hotel with a very good location. Every Major site was in short walking distance and the rooms were clean and comfortable. The Staff were very nice and helpful The breakfast was good. And it was a good value overall. I would stay there again if I returned to Brugge.
A well-located hotel with a good package deal

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Cordoeanier in mid-May 2006. The hotel is very conveniently located right off "Markt". For typical Brugges tourists (especially the first-timers), that is pretty much ideal. We took advantage of the hotel’s “Discover Brugges Package” offer (visit hotel’s homepage for details), which turned out to be a great money & time saver. The small room (double occupancy) we got was probably normal for a two-star hotel in Europe. Still, in the bright-colored wallpaper and decoration, we could see the owners’ effort to make the guests’ stay as pleasant as possible. We also appreciated the extra twin bed in our room, in addition to the regular queen-size bed. Large-sized people should be ready for squeezing themselves in a typical European itsy bitsy bathroom. There was only liquid soap provided (and in our room, its supply was short and never really refilled while we were there), and we eventually bought our own bar of soap outside. The staff was very efficient, if not overly friendly. Breakfast was good. Overall, it was a very satisfying stay for the price.
Close to the Square

We enjoyed a 3 day package deal offered by the hotel - a great value added benefit. We enjoyed a canal tour, the brewery tour and a few other sights, plus 2 evening dinners at a local restaurant. The hotel is in a very convenient location so we were able to get around easily.
The breakfast was very good, with lots of nice choices available.
Our room was adequate (though small ) and the adjoining bathroom was spotlessly clean.
Weather unfortunately was not great but we managed to rent bikes one day and biked to Damme (about 3 miles away).
A great little Hotel

A small, well run hotel. Basic rooms but very clean and comfortable. Brilliant breakfast with lots of choice. Nice friendly atmosphere at night in the little bar where we had a night cap after our evenings out. We hate huge impersonal hotels so this was a breath of fresh air and we can very happily recommend this hotel for convenience of location (a few steps from the centre of everything) and for the general atmosphere and ambience.
Nice location, but....

Followed recommendation from Rick Steves' travel guide. First the good: Owners are nice, helpful and friendly. Wonderful location. Inexpensive. BUT, you get what you pay for: Terrible mattress, broken window, not the cleanest room. So, would I stay there again? No. I'm planning a trip for this fall and have made reservations elsewhere.
Great location and value

Found this place without Rick Steeves but was glad to learn later that it was one of his hotels. The staff was REALLY friendly and helpful, the breakfast was great - eggs, bacon, the usual meat and cheeses, yogurt, fruit, . . . no complaints on that. The location is ideal - just off the main square but it's VERY quiet which we really appreciated. Our room was on the top floor so whe had to walk up the stairs (good for us since we were eating so much chocolate while were there) but it had an great view of the top of the tower in the market. The room was clean, the beds were ok (they weren't Westin beds but for that you'd have to stay at the MUCH more expensive Crowne Plaza a few streets away). The window worked well, the room was clean, as was the bathroom but the bathroom door was strange. It was like a sliding closet door which time to get used to but other than that we had a great stay. They even have internet in the lobby for a small cost. We even lucked out and got to witness a farmers market in the main square while we were there. I will definitely return to this hotel - great value and location.
What a find!

We arrived in Brugge without a reservation, but used the Rick Steves book to find this gem. For the price, it cannot be beat. The location is fabulous--1 minute walk from Market Square--but it is amazingly quiet and peaceful. The entire hotel is spotless, and I am very fussy about this. Even though this is an old building, even the little corners of the windows are dustfree...amazing. Our room was small with a tiny, but very functional bathroom...the shower had great water pressure and was immaculate. If you want a large room with lots of storage space to unload your suitcase, look for another hotel. If, however, you just want a spot to sleep and clean up, you'll be happy here. The breakfast was yummy and more than adequate, as other reviewers have discussed, and it's included in the price. We had some leftover food from dinner, and the staff quickly agreed to let us use their refrigerator to keep a bag of stuff cool. We also rented bikes and were able to leave them locked in a secure room off the lobby...a great convenience. And we were able to leave our luggage in the lobby after we checked out. We plan on returning to Brugge with some family and we will definitely be staying at the Hotel Cordoeanier.
Thanks, Rick Steves

We stayed for two nights in July, and loved Brugge. Spent the days strolling the streets, and the nights drinking great beer. This hotel was in our guidebook, we arrived in a driving rainstorm without reservations, and were immediately shown upstairs for our choice of two rooms. Both rooms were tiny, but clean. The bed was a little lumpy for my tastes, but if I wanted to spend more I could have chosen a nicer hotel. This place is literally a 3-4 minute walk from Market Square, just off the beaten path to stay quiet, but close enough to be convenient. The breakfast in the morning was good overall. Make sure you go to DuMon chocolates, the brewery, climb the bell tower and see the wonderful achitechure. Not many Americans make it to Brugge, but it was worth the side trip from Amsterdam.
