This was a wonderful find in Brugge. Before we left on our trip, I had spent hours looking on the internet and just couldn't make a choice. We ended up going to the Tourist Information office in the main square and made reservations here. The location was 1 block off the main drag very close to the central square in what looked to be a residential area. The entrance was appealing. The owner, Winke, who greeted us was warm and friendly. Our room was large and luxurious. It was a little funky in that the bathroom en suite was obviously added, but it too was luxurious with a wonderful, large tub. Breakfast was excellent! Not just croissant and coffee, but made to order omelets, meats, yogurts, breads and pastries, fresh squeezed juice and fresh flowers on the tables. The building itself is 600 years old. I would love to go back to Brugge to stay at the Karel de Stoute and to walk the peaceful streets in the evening.
The owners were so kind and welcoming. They were obviously proud of their establishment. Every detail was perfect. Starched linens on the tables, quality towels in the bathroom. The bed was very comfortable. The location was perfect, being moments walk from the center of town, but off the main street.
