Lovely hotel with great atmosphere
by TripAdvisor Member purple_armadillo
We stayed in this hotel for a few nights in September 07 and thoroughly enjoyed our time here. Its a small hotel and very friendly with lovely and helpful staff.
The rooms are clean and breakfast excellent. The staff are polite, friendly and attentive.
Our room was a canal-side room. If you choose this option then expect a small room and an even smaller bathroom cubicle (the only downside to the hotel) but you will get lovely views and a clean room.
The hotel has a boutique hotel feel due to its small size and higgeldy-piggledy nature of buildings and the home-made breakfast.
The hotel is located centrally for the main attractions in Brugge but also not so central that you get troubled at night by the tourists, though you will see the tourist boats!
Brugge is also one of the lovliest towns I've ever visited.
Ter reien was very impressive

We stayed for two nights over the Valentine weekend and were very impressed with the Ter Reien.
The hotel is in a superb location right on the canal and just a few minutes walk from the main square and all the sights.
Our room had a canalside view which was very impressive and if you had the window open then you could hear the tour boats as they passed by but this was not a major problem.
The only downside to the room was the size of the bathroom which was tiny!!
Breakfast was the typical continental spread and we had no complaints.
Overall the hotel is clean and the staff are frienly and helpful,
We would certainly recommend this hotel for price and facilities

I booked rooms at this hotel solely because of the good reviews and they weren't wrong. Stylish but not overstated, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. A short walk to the centre of Bruges and right on the canal. Lots of cafes and restaurants very close by.
The rooms are a bit small and the shower cubicles are tiny but this is no way detracted from the relaxing atmosphere. Our rooms on the canal side had lovely large windows and great views. This is not the place for you if you're into 5 star luxury and lashings of gold decor.
Breakfasts good. Staff friendly and helpful.
Bruges is a lovely city for a relaxing, romantic break. We went with our daughters in their early 20s and they loved it as much as we did. Will definitely recommend the city and Ter Reien to friends.
Great hotel, lovely location

Spotless rooms, very comfortable beds and a great view of the canals. Friendly staff and substantial and varied breakfast. The location was just a few minutes from the main tourist areas. The only downside was the miniscule bathroom. Absolutely tiny. Apart from that, would definitely recommend this hotel.
Great place to stay

A lovely hotel. Our room was one with a view of the canal. Large with a double bed and two single beds, as well as a desk and a sitting area with nice hand carved wooden chairs. Was for myself, my husband and our son- lots of room. Big bathroom with tub and shower.
Breakfast included had lots of options (excellent dark and light breads, fruits, pastries, cheeses, cold cuts, eggs, yogurt, juices, good coffee, teas and hot chocolate). Very sweet staff people. Easy walk from center of town. Free internet access. AND right on a canal!
We visited a hotel room that friends of ours were staying at - they paid more than twice as much as us and had a much smaller room.
Only complaint would be that the right side of the double bed was not all that comfortable.

hotel ter reien and bed and bruges and any other suggestions
by gdgranny
We are looking at these two places to stay this September. The hotel has
been given 21/2 stars by vt readers, although their comments are very good.
The hotel is about 95 euros versus 60 euros for the b and b. I don't know
if it is worth the extra because we don't do mmuch more than sleep in the room.
The b and b is purpose built, a small cottage. I can't find any reviews
on it. I would really like to read some views on it.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I have heard of good things about Hotel ter Reien. The location is in the city center. HOwever, I, as a budget tourist always go for hotel chains. Although I have never stayed in a hotel called Hotel Ibis in Brugge (because I live here) I have had good experiences in other Ibis hotels in other neighboring countries. Weekends usually cost between €69-€79. Sometimes, they offer some hot deals. The location of Ibis HOtel Centrum is also in the city center itself, nearby the canals and other major attractions. It is very walkable and accessible by public transport. Here is their website:

Enjoy your stay in Brugge!

I know neither, but suggest you start with tripadvisor.com. I have also had good experiences of Ibis.

Thanks, for the info. We have just about decided on the Art and Soul B&B.
It is a good location and 60euros a night.

If you plan to be there more than a few days, you might consider renting a flat or a house. We rented a lovely three bedroom house for less than $100 USA a day last year and are renting a two bedroom house in September for 300 euros for five days Check out www.vrbo.com or www.eurorelais.com.

are staying at the Art and Soul bnb.
