Travel Tips for Brugge

beautiful buildings on a beautiful square

by MATIM

Walk through the gate of the building on the left and you find tourist information there.
I think they just restore this building cause the colours are so bright.
This building is situated near the city hall, I thought this was the most beautiful square of Brugge.

Burg Sqare

by Carmela71

Bruges is a city with two town squares.

The largest one is the Market, the commercial heart of medieval Bruges.

The second square is called the 'Burg'.

Here was, and still is, the heart of the administrative Bruges

Recorder's House & " Bridge of Sighs" ??

by globetrott

The Recorders House has also an interesting connection to the next house.
It looks a bit like the "Bridge of Sighs" in Venice What a great surprise to see that small house-bridge beautifully decorated between the 2 buildings of simple red bricks

Belgian Lace making is definitely a local Art.

by Waalewiener

This is a picture that Lori took when we were in Brugge (Bruges). When I start working on this Chapter Lori says I have some Lace , so she starts looking around the house and she came up with 6 examples of laced work.
We will feature these 6 pieces and Lori also came up with an Encyclopedia Published in 1956 were she found a nice explanation about Lace, and it so happened that the Encylopedia featured a Belgian lady doing her Art work making Lace. You can follow us through this beautiful Belgian Art work if you like. The 6 examples that we feature are of course not neccessary made in Belgium , and we do not know where they were made
they have been in the family for years.

the new wide angle lens

by richiecdisc

On my first two trips to Bruges, I had to say bring a wide angle for panoramas of this mesmerizing city and of course, lots of film but prior to my last visit, I finally broke down and bought a digital SLR. I got a Rebel and opted for a 10-20mm lens which is equivalent to a 16-35mm film camera. You can readily see the difference in the scope of photos I was able to take even using the camera for the first time. Can't wait to practice more! Insatiable appetite for great food and beer, there's certainly no shortage of either in Bruges. I'd have to say I enjoyed my most recent trip the most of my three to the great city as I had not only my lovely new wife but also three great VT friends.
