Not expensive evening dinner-place in Brugge with traditional food and beer

by Kir1304

Hello!

I'm going to Brugge in January, so could you help me with some food-places there?
Could you advice me good but not expensive cafe, bar or restaurant in Brugge with traditional Belgium food. I mean seafood, beer etc?
Somewhere in the city-centre?

How much could it cost to have average dinner there?

Thank you!

There are many cafes/bars/restaurants on the square T'Zand (where the theatre is) with plenty traditional food choices. You should be able to get a meal (main course + beer) for less than 20 euro. I did, 3 times in 3 different places, in July.

I have reviews of individual restaurants on my Brugge page.

As leics said, also the Tom Pouce on Burg Square. Full details on my Brugge page: Tips/Restaurants.

Great place! Enjoy.

Travel Tips for Brugge

Minnewater Park

by Imaniac

On your way from the train station to the city center you cannot escape the Minnewater Park. It's a beautiful entrance to Brugge. The Lake Of Love is the heart of the park. Altough there are many legends on how the lake got it's name, the true origins are less romantic.

The park is also teh host of some concerts and festivals in Brugge. The cactus festival for instance is a folk festival with some great artists over the years like Suzanne Vega and Stereo Mc's.

You can take the boat tours...

by ainhoaflies

You can take the boat tours trough the canals but it's a lot more expensive than bikes...of course you get a guide that explains everyhting but...I like walking around and reading my guide looking at the boats, at the bridges and canals myself! Up to you!

Minnewater

by Toyin

For a while Minna still could convince her dear father that a marriage was not
really suitable for her but he finally lost his patience. He was getting old and
wanted to be assured of her future.
He decided that when the sun would rise for the 3rd time, he would give her away
to his favorite Horneck.
Minna was really desperate. She was torn between the love for and her promise to
Stromberg and the will of her father.
Before the sun set on the 3rd day, she run away during the night, into the woods
she ran, not to return again.

Some time later, when the acute danger of the Romans was gone, Stromberg
returned. Soon he found out about he disappearance of Minna and he started a
difficult and hard search.
At last, after many fearful hours he found his lover but she was total exhausted
from the lack of food and endurance. She just survived to die now in his arms.
First thought of Stromberg was to take his own life as well but then he made up
is mind.
He decided that he wanted to be remembered the place where his true love Minna
has died. He would cherish and honour this place as long as he lived.
He built a cabin and then a dam in the middle of the stream to block the water
getting in. Then in the dry bed (?) of the river he digged a grave for his lost
love. Then he removed the dam to let the water run in free.
At the shore he found a huge rock and he incurved in remembrance of Minna
“Minna-Water”.
It is said by the legend that much time later in history, this exact place is
the location where the present tower has been built.

Entertaining Streets

by scottishvisitor

It may have been the Easter weekend bringing out the entertainment in the city's streets and squares. As we walked around in the sunshine amusing entertainment seemed ever present. Free Hugs in a city square - always nice to receive a hug even from a stranger. The cheerful organ grinder had the crowds in tears of laughter with his comical antics. Pan pipers filling the air with sweet melodies and trying hard to sell CD's. Jugglers who kept dropping everything we had a great time Hey we even met the Easter Bunny!!

Number One Team in Belgium - Club Brugge K.V.

by Groentje

Club Brugge was last year's champions, and I hope they do equally well this year! Last year they totally overclassed the rest of the league, but this time it promises to be more exciting. Bring your black and blue scarf and your best voice with you: you'll need it!
