Roseland Bed & Breakfast: Great bed and even better breakfast
This very nice little bed and breakfast is located just outside the center of Brugge, but if you have a car, it takes 5-10 minutes to get to the center. It is then possible to park the car at the station for a very reasonable fee that will also entitle you to free bus tickets for ALL people in the car.
It is owned and run by Rose and her husband Roland, who are both extremely friendly and helpful, but not intrusive at all.
When we got there, we were offered the room right next to theirs. It was quite nice, small but more than adequate. The only "problem" is that there is no toilet seat in the room (only a small shower), so you have to use the one right outside the room.
Rose is an interior decorator, so the whole house is nice too look at.
The best thing was the breakfast. The evening after, we had been told that we would find a tray outside the bedroom with a nice breakfast, including boiled eggs "if the chicken colaborate".
It was one of the best breakfasts I have had, 3-4 pieces of bread per person, cheese, jam, boiled eggs, juice, coffee, tea, etc, etc. Let's just say you will not leave hungry.
The prices were (and still are) very reasonable and 50 Eur/night for a double (an extra 5 if you only stay one night).

Astrid Bed & Breakfast: Great Brugge B & B
The innkeeper, a young mother of 2, was very cordial and helpful with restaurant and sightseeing tips. The room was large nicely furnished, clean and very comfortable. The bathroom (en suite) was large, modern and very clean. We highly recommend it and will stay there again on my next visit. I am in process of building a page on Brugge and will include another picture or two of the area.
Across the street is a lovely park (Astrid Park). It is about a 10 minute walk to the city centre. The park and the church were both visible from our window.

Art and Soul (B&B): Quiet B&B near the centre
Romantic house, great garden, silent location and very special "art"-rooms. For Dutch readers, check the article in Knack
Silent street, and only 200m from the market.

Private Guest Houses: Private Guest Houses
Stay with one of the local people with them in their house when over there. Prices are way cheaper than hotels, plus some 'inside info' from a resident when it comes to eating out/nightlife etc. is always welcome.

Moerstraat B & B: to stay or not to stay
On my first trip to Bruges in 1996 and prior to VT I stayed in a great little B & B on Moerstraat though I was not one to keep notes on such things at the time. It was around 30 dollars for a single including breakfast though I imagine you'd be hard pressed to find that kind of deal today. On my next two trips to the fair city I day tripped from Ghent. With trains running so frequently between the two cities and to fairly late hours it is an easy enough thing to do. Unless you are spending two or three days in each city (well worth it if you have the time!), I find it easier to make a home base and travel from one place to the next since distances in Belgium are so short.
Moerstraat is conveniently close enough to all the sights of this fairly small town though it was a bit convoluted finding my way back there each evening after a night of drinking! It wasn't much tougher to find the train station and get back to Ghent my second year. It was nice having VTer Caro to not only drive us back to Ghent after a fun night out but to navigate us back to her car! ;)
