Bike Rental near Train Station?

by Alemaker

Hello all:

I will be in Brugge in a few weeks for the day...
I was wondering if anyone knows of a bike rental shop near the train station.
I appreciate any advice.
Thanks,
Doug

The nmbs (Belgian Railroad) itself have a bike-rental. In Brugge are 90 bikes to rent. See: http://www.b-rail.be/nat/E/practical/petsbikesbags/bikerenting/index.php

You don't need to be a traintraveller to rent a bike from the railroad. But if you are arriving by train, you can get a package-deal (must be bought when buying your ticket).

Regards,
M.

Thank you for the quick responses! I will use these recommendations for my bike rental. The more I research Brugge, the more I think one day in this beautiful city may not be enough...Even with a bike to get around on...
Thanks again,
Doug

I have been hybernating :)
Good advices of my friends, renting a bicycle.
Another thing you could do is join a guided cycle road.

I did it a couple of times and it is fun and you get to know a little bit.
Or just get yourself a cycling tour map.

Here you can find some info about other bicycle rents and guided tours (they are normally in English unless you ask different).

or if you really want to go crazy hire a tandem hehehe
but if you never have tried it mmm I would not recommend it although it is fun.

Travel Tips for Brugge

Walk around this beautifull...

by 0yvind

Walk around this beautifull town, and mayby take a ride in one of the canal boats. If you're interested in how the European Union works and you maybe want to be a bureaucrat you can apply for the College of Europe. You should also visit the big church in Brugge. I was told that is was the tallest brick church in the world. The town hall is also nice, but the restaurants around the central square has lousy service (this aplies to the whole of Belgium really). Nice icecream, though.

City Market / Grote Markt / Market Square

by codrutz

I'm really a bit confused when it comes to the actual name of this square. Maybe it's my english .. maybe it's my Brugge knowledge .. the best thing for me is to get an idea from a belgian .. How is this square really named? Of course he/she will tell me "De Markt" .. but how about in English? ;)
Despite that name problem that I have .. or maybe inspite it :) I have greately enjoyed spending time in the square .. walking and admiring the views .. taking a lot of pictures of course .. or sitting just below the statuary pair (that's a must do also .. or if you like a 'have to do thing') :))

An evening with Banana Beer and lots of jokes

by sabsi

A night out with our Swedish roommates from our luxurious hostel room. We died laughing about German and Swedish stereotypes and just had a great time, drinking all sorts of strange beers ('Bananöl' was extremely popular that night ;).

One more nice piece of Lace.

by Waalewiener

How Lace is made.
Needlepoint Lace is made with a needle and thread. It is very closely related to
embroidery , but the stitches are made
without cloth underneath them.
They are simply woven and twisted on each other and on loops of thread held by the Lace maker, using fine button hole stitches.
Irish Lace is made with a fine crochet hook. Raised patterns are worked
into the design, with such details as separate
may go into a flower figure that is only three quarters of an inch across. Lacemaking of this kind is very fine, delicate work and good Irish Lace is expensive.
to be continued.

Be Greedy -Go to Ghent Also.

by Ekaterinburg

Ghent is just a twenty minute train ride from Bruges and it would be a shame to visit one without the other. While not as obviously picturesque as Bruges, Ghent is a fine town confident of it's own attractions. The principal attraction is of course Van Eycks Ghent altarpiece, The Lamb of God. The many panels of this amazing altarpiece exemplify evrything that is notable about Northern European painting in the 15th century. If you only choose to see one work of art while in Belgium you won't find one more spectacular than this.
